Roles and responsibilities
- Ensures team member adherence to generally accepted engineering and design practices, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications.
- Supports the standardization of equipment specifications, drawings, and document templates.
- Contributes to the understanding of technical knowledge, legal requirements, and customer specifications whenever viable and lawful.
- Uses local/global standards to support technical excellence.
- Supports checking, peer reviews, and incorporation of comments and findings.
- Technical supervision of project designated process designers and draftsmen in the execution of their duty.
- Preparation /checking of Specifications, data sheets.
- Performance of bid evaluation and vendor document review and approval
- Technical writing activities, in particular, production of technical reports and operating manuals.
- Manage studies and process-orientated projects as assigned.
- Project Execution:
- Knows the project and discipline scope/cost/time requirements, assists the team to meet expectations, and coordinates with other disciplines to ensure project success.
- Implements innovative solutions, technology advances, and methods to effectively deal with working out of sequence.
- Supports Lead Engineer in monitoring quality activities and takes action where required.
- Assist Project Team in project documentation such as proposals, estimates, budgets and schedules
- Manage process design and any design changes within budget and schedule.
- Prepare and participate in weekly process discipline meetings, prepare progress reports and follow required checking procedures.
- Management, technical execution and completion of engineering assigned tasks in a specific process discipline area
- Execute verification, studies and detail design following best engineering practices and optimization in term of cost, construction simplicity, operability and maintainability, HSSE.
- Project Deliverables:
- Gathers data from multiple sources and prepares engineering studies, analyses, calculations.
- Determines technical issues, defines alternate solutions, establishes pros/cons for multiple solutions, and makes recommendations through official project documents such as technical queries, technical deviations, etc.
- Creates final documentation incorporating all relevant information and pursues customer approval.
- Reviews documentation to assist others and reviews/authorizes work done by direct reports.
- Evaluate new technology advancements against existing design standards and revise where applicable.
- Identify and review new technology development which could be applicable in providing more cost-effective facilities.
- Perform discipline specific engineering services such as: a) Identify and report changes to project scope;
b) Contribute to appropriate studies, analyses and recommend actions;
c) Assist with the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, specifications, data, calculations and reports;
d) Provide assistance during procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
- Assisting the project engineers in the co-ordination and preparation of input into the contract documents for each discipline area, including design criteria, scope of work, procedures and design approach.
- Liaison and co-ordination with other engineers and discipline groups on the contract to effect timely production of deliverables
- Procurement Support:
- Incorporates information from multiple sources into equipment/material specifications, data sheets, testing requirements, and material requisitions.
- Reviews similar documentation to assist others and reviews/authorizes work done by direct reports.
- Quality Assurance
- Responsible for working within the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance systems. Safety
- Responsible for personal safety safe working practices. Understand and follow OH&S procedures.
- Promoting health, safety and environmental awareness.
Desired candidate profile

Process Design Expertise: In-depth knowledge of process design methodologies, including creating process flow diagrams (PFDs) and piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs).

Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in process simulation and modeling software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS, MATLAB) for analyzing and optimizing complex processes.

Project Management Skills: Strong ability to manage projects from conception to completion, including planning, scheduling, and resource management.

Analytical Skills: Ability to assess process data, conduct feasibility studies, and identify areas for improvement.

Collaboration: Experience working with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation engineers, to ensure integrated design and execution.

Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards, and environmental guidelines to ensure compliance in process design.
