Electrical Engineer

Roles and responsibilities

• Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Electrical engineering design and analysis
• Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards
• Effective technical and practical skills and able to consistently deliver quality, accurate and timely work to WOOD and its clients
• Previous experience of performing Site Survey to collect electrical data required for design
• Experience in Assess Study, Concept Selection, Pre-FEED, FEED and Detail Engineering jobs
• Experience in Brownfield Jobs such as preparation of Modification scope of Work
• Experience to perform all associated electrical calculations such as equipment sizing (switchgears, Transformers, Generators), Cable sizing, Subsea Cable Sizing, UPS Sizing, Lighting and Earthing calculations
• Experience of preparing Electrical Control System I/O List
• Experience of preparing Material Purchase Specifications, Technical Bids Evaluation, Technical Clarifications, Scope of Works, Review of Vendor Offers
• Experience of the application of HAZOP, E-HAZOP, 3D Model and Constructability Review to Electrical design
• Experience with Electrical design for prefabricated/modular packaged equipment
• Experience in Power System modelling and study on ETAP for performing following studies : Short Circuit ,Load, Flow, Motor Starting
• Experience of working on SPEL Software
• Ability to develop Electrical Specifications, Datasheets, Schedules, Layout Drawings, Electrical MTO
• Proficient in the use of Navisworks, Lighting calculation Software (Dialux etc.) and MS-office
• Good Oral and Communication skills
• Able to demonstrate team working skills
• Flexible with a can-do attitude
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering discipline from recognized institution
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in oil & gas industry
• Professional Accreditation from recognized institute (preferable)
• Middle East Experience

Desired candidate profile

1. Design and Development: Create electrical system designs, including power distribution, control systems, and electronic devices.
2. Analysis and Testing: Conduct simulations, tests, and evaluations to ensure systems meet specifications and safety standards.
3. Project Management: Oversee projects from concept through completion, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and managing timelines and budgets.
4. Documentation: Prepare detailed technical documentation, including specifications, schematics, and reports.
5. Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve issues in electrical systems, providing solutions to improve performance and reliability.
6. Compliance: Ensure that designs comply with industry standards and regulations, including safety and environmental considerations.

Required Skills

1. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of electrical engineering principles, circuit theory, and system design.
2. Software Proficiency: Familiarity with engineering design software (e.g., MATLAB, AutoCAD, PSpice) and simulation tools.
3. Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze data and troubleshoot complex electrical systems effectively.
4. Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with team members and presenting technical information.
5. Project Management: Skills in planning and executing projects, including resource management and scheduling.

Qualifications

• Educational Background: A degree in electrical engineering or a related field from an accredited institution.
• Experience: Entry-level positions may require internships or co-op experience, while more senior roles typically require 3-5 years of relevant experience.
• Licensure: A Professional Engineer (PE) license may be required for certain positions, particularly those involving public safety and compliance.
