Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Responsible for construction and contractor related deliverables
  • Supervises all areas on small projects or a subset / discipline area on moderate-sized projects
  • Responsible for management and execution of a single field discipline or a subset of assigned construction project(s) in accordance with the requirements of the contract between the company and the client, and in accordance with the company’s operating policies and principles.
  • Responsible for execution of the work in accordance with the quality standards and requirements specified for the project.
  • Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on site construction.
  • Management of installation, commissioning and completion activities for some materials and equipment
  • Ability to monitor work progress and report against the plan.
  • Ensure safety, quality and environmental responsibilities and accountabilities have been defined and communicated to workers engaged within their area(s) of control
  • Ensure all workers within their area(s) of control receive appropriate training to perform their work in a safe, legal and competent manner including any Health and Safety and site-specific inductions
  • Initiate safety, quality and environmental processes within their area(s) of control, including toolbox meetings, inspections, and the identification, assessment and control of risks in accordance with Wood and client requirements
  • Manages and controls project cost and schedule of assigned discipline / subset of on site construction. Utilise Commercial processes to capture variations effectively
  • Coordinate supply and delivery of equipment, subcontractors, consumables, accommodation and other project-specific requirements, in accordance with client/contract document specifications and in accordance with Wood Policies & Procedures
  • Understand and manage the industrial relations environment impacting the site and report any issues as required
  • Works with engineering in the design phases to influence the design for optimum constructability

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor degree in mechanical engineering

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Appropriate level of field construction experience, typically gained through a minimum of 10 years of post-qualification experience in a relevant industry
  • Construction experience in gas processing facilities / Plant projects
  • Experience in FEED construction deliverables

  2. Technical Knowledge: In-depth understanding of construction methods, materials, and technology, along with relevant engineering principles.

  3. Regulatory Compliance: Familiarity with building codes, safety regulations, and environmental standards to ensure projects meet legal requirements.

  4. Quality Control: Implementing quality assurance processes to ensure work meets specified standards and specifications.

  5. Site Management: Ability to oversee construction sites, manage labor, and coordinate subcontractors effectively.

  6. Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to identify issues on-site and develop practical solutions quickly.

  7. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with team members, clients, and stakeholders.

  8. Risk Management: Assessing potential risks to project timelines and budgets, and developing mitigation strategies.

  9. Financial Acumen: Understanding of cost estimation, budgeting, and financial reporting for construction projects.

  10. Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor junior engineers and construction staff, fostering a collaborative work environment.

  • Design Coordination: Collaborating with architects and designers to ensure project plans are accurately executed.
  • Construction Scheduling: Developing detailed schedules using project management software to track progress and deadlines.
  • Contract Management: Overseeing contracts with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring compliance and addressing disputes.
  • Sustainability Practices: Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and materials to promote environmentally friendly projects.
  • Technology Utilization: Proficiency in construction management software and tools, such as BIM (Building Information Modeling).
