Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

  • Configure and test Bay Control Units (BCUs), RTUs/PLCs, SCMS systems
  • Develop new application solutions with IEC61850, Modbus, Profibus, IEC 101, IEC 104 or other communication protocols relevant in the energy automation field
  • Design, configure, conduct FAT and commissioning of Cybersecurity for Substation Automation systems
  • Be one of our primary customer interfaces, including trouble shooting and commissioning support
  • Occasionally assist in developing new order proposals (bills of materials, clarifying technical comments, etc.)
  • Design, development, implementation, testing, and commissioning of protection and control applications and schemes
  • Prepare (SAT) Site Acceptance Test procedures.
  • Configure, test and perform commissioning SCMS for retrofit applications.
  • Travel to job sites, customer offices and vendors factories expected to be around 75% of total time.
  • Perform Training on the SCMS system to customers

Your Qualifications And Skills – Digital And Solid!

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic/Instrumentation Engineering
  • 5 + years of relevant experience in substation network topology design;
  • Ring/Star experience with redundancy protocol RSTP, PRP & HSR etc
  • Practical knowledge of large 61850 network design, Human-Machine Interface / SCADA Parameterization including implementation of Substation Automation Cyber Security
  • Experience in parameterizing communication protocols, IEC61850, IEC 101, IEC 104 etc
  • Hands-on experience:
    • Configuring and testing BCUs with logics
    • Configuring HMIs with SLDs, Alarms, Events, Trends, etc
    • Configuring Gateways to convert various protocols
    • Configuring, integration and troubleshooting of numerical devices and meters to SCMS/RTU systems
  • Be on site to lead/participate in FAT and/or SAT and/or commissioning as required by the project
  • Knowledge of Cybersecurity in OT Systems including configuration/parameterization of Next Gen Firewall, IDS, Syslog Server , RBAC, Hardening
  • Awareness of IEC 62443 and IEC 62351standards

Desired candidate profile

  • Technical Expertise: Strong understanding of substation automation systems, including SCADA, RTUs (Remote Terminal Units), and IEDs (Intelligent Electronic Devices).

  • Cybersecurity Knowledge: Familiarity with cybersecurity principles and practices, particularly in the context of industrial control systems (ICS) and critical infrastructure protection.

  • Commissioning Skills: Experience in the commissioning process for substation automation systems, including testing, troubleshooting, and validation of system performance.

  • Standards and Regulations: Knowledge of relevant industry standards and guidelines (e.g., IEC 61850, NERC CIP, ISO 27001) related to automation and cybersecurity.

  • Network Configuration: Skills in configuring network devices, firewalls, and VPNs to secure communication between automation systems and control centers.

  • Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues during commissioning, ensuring systems meet design specifications.

  • Data Analysis: Proficiency in analyzing system data and performance metrics to optimize automation processes and enhance cybersecurity posture.

  • Documentation Skills: Strong ability to create and maintain accurate documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and commissioning reports.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication for collaborating with engineering teams, stakeholders, and clients, and for providing training and support.

  • Project Management: Skills in managing project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation related to commissioning activities.

  • Field Experience: Hands-on experience working in substations, including familiarity with electrical equipment and safety protocols.

  • Continuous Learning: Commitment to staying updated on emerging technologies, cybersecurity threats, and best practices in substation automation.
