Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

The Manager for Security Training will manage and lead all Emirates Group Security Training (EGST), will develop learning strategies to ensure that we continue to deliver world class security training and lead in the field of aviation security training. At the core of the training programme will be the provision of security training for all flight and cabin crew, and the specialist security training network wide, for all ground operations and security personnel. The maintenance of Regulatory compliance with the UAE’s National Civil Aviation Security Training Program (NCASTP) and the Emirates Airline Operator Security Program (AOSP) will be core to effective delivery, as will delivery of the training to the very highest standards. You will work closely with stakeholders to ensure EGST department delivers training which supports the maintenance of an effective security culture within the airline and across our network. As a member of the leadership team, you will be a key contributor to the strategy and management plan of Emirates Group Security, as we continue to provide the support necessary to help the airline achieve its growth goals over the next epoch in our phenomenal growth.

In This Role, You Will

  • Lead the development, implementation and administration of a thorough regulatory training and certification standards and compliance processes to meet international standards and recommended practices. Responsible for internal and external training compliance audits, working closely with Emirates Group Security (EGS) Operations team.
  • Oversee the security training programmes for flight, cabin crew and ground personnel to ensure regulatory compliance. Ensure all security training syllabi are appropriately accredited and promote awareness of security training and education.
  • Lead course design and review initiatives to ensure delivery of evidence-based training programmes which meet regulatory requirements and utilise technology-based learning solutions to meet the security training needs of Emirates Group staff. Work with contracted third parties in the design/delivery of security training packages. Effectively foster relationships with external customers to reinforce and promote the Emirates brand and support the industry by sharing knowledge and best practise internally and with fellow industry professionals.
  • Manage & maintain relationships with industry experts, internal and external stakeholders including GCAA, EASA, FAA, IATA, ICAO and other airlines to ensure EGS is able to influence operationally relevant and effective change in security training and raise standards within the industry. Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with key internal subject matter experts in Flight Operations, Safety and Emergency Procedures Training, Service Delivery, Group Medical, Engineering, Group Safety etc. to ensure Emirates maintains a consistent organisational approach.
  • Lead the EGST team of full time and part-time trainers. Plan and implement continuous professional development by ensuring trainers receive regular feedback on their performance and development, and encourage professional accreditation. Ensure the vision, mission and values of the Emirates Group and EGS are embraced by all within EGST
  • Accountable for the selection and training of high quality, professional security trainers in permanent or part time roles, ensuring that those selected possess the necessary skills and training techniques. Lead the team of security trainers to ensure learning outcomes are achieved, training schedules are adhered to, deadlines met, relevant manuals updated, and records maintained.
  • Lead and manage multiple projects, ensuring they are completed within agreed time frames, to specification, and within budget through collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Represent EGST on working groups, projects and meetings. Ensure updates are made to Operations Manuals Part A, D, E and other manuals which contain security training related information.
  • Review and manage Disruptive/Unruly Behaviour incident follow-up through collaboration with EGS Operations, EGS Airport Services Unit, Service Delivery, Flight Operations and other stakeholders. Oversee training and awareness on Human and Wildlife Trafficking.
  • Ensure EGST remains a market leader through deployment of best learning technologies and resources by attending international events on security, training and development. Establish professional relationships with international experts and network with industry colleagues to remain updated on changes and innovations.
  • Responsible for the preparation and day-to-day management and oversight of the annual EGST budgets. Manage effective utilisation of training resources to ensure training is cost efficient without impacting training output.

Qualifications & Experience

To be considered for the role, you must meet the below requirements:

Qualifications

Bachelors or Honours Degree (12+3 or equivalent)

Experience

  • 10+ yrs Aviation Security Experience
  • 10+ yrs Training Management Experience
  • Training Experience (Aviation Security Preferred)

Knowledge/skills

  • Knowledge of aviation security standards and industry best practice
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance
  • Established professional relationships with stakeholders and training organisations
  • Experience in a learning and training environment with large cross functional projects
  • Expertise in safety and emergency procedures preferred
  • Security Expertise: In-depth knowledge of security protocols, regulations, and best practices, including physical, cybersecurity, and personnel security.

  • Training Development: Skills in designing and developing effective training programs and materials tailored to various audiences and security needs.

  • Instructional Skills: Experience in delivering training sessions, workshops, and seminars, using engaging and effective teaching methods.

  • Assessment and Evaluation: Ability to evaluate training effectiveness through assessments, feedback, and performance metrics to continually improve programs.

  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex security concepts clearly to diverse audiences.

  • Leadership and Mentorship: Experience in leading and mentoring training teams, fostering a culture of learning and professional development.

  • Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant security regulations and compliance requirements that impact training programs.

  • Project Management: Skills in managing multiple training initiatives, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.

  • Adaptability: Ability to update training content and methods based on emerging threats, technologies, and organizational changes.

  • Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with other departments, stakeholders, and subject matter experts to enhance training programs.
