Jobs at this level are increasingly involved in projects management and the direction and coordination of all Projects resources, typically on larger Projects, in order to ensure that construction meets all client contractual requirements in the most cost effective and efficient manner. They might also work on a number of Projects at any one time. They will primarily be involved in planning, co-ordinating and monitoring these activities through to Projects completion.
Principal Accountabilities
Monitor the needs and initiate job instructions and variation proposals to ensure cost effective operations and compliance with contract
Monitor and ensure the preparation of the client list of deliverables and the progress plan and monitors performance against milestones, bringing to notice, through regular progress reports, contractual and other problems that might arise during execution
Supervise the activities of junior project engineers and provide technical advice to ensure the effective control of the work being undertaken and full compliance with all relevant standards
Follow-up with client on approvals and instructions, attends client meetings and liaise with client counterpart on all matters relating to area of responsibility
Monitor and review the receipt of vendor deliverables to ensure timely delivery, compliance with specifications and follow-up with suppliers to avoid potential delays
Review the project activity report preparation and verifies the completeness and accuracy of all invoices
Co-ordinate with certification agencies for endorsement of regulated activities
Review the preparation and provide inputs of the final documentation and close out report, bringing the project to final conclusion
Participate in a formal review of the project with relevant parties, on completion, to identify opportunities for learning and development
Assist the Project Manager in providing commercial and technical input for the Contracts Department at the estimation stage, when requested, ensuring that adequate provision is made for all activities
Assist the Construction/Project Manager in managing construction activities to ensure projects proceed on schedule and to required quality standards.
Evaluate problems & weighs impair on schedule, initiates recovery plan
Ensure the availability of the necessary resources for project execution
