Nephrologist

There are three stages in the education and training requirement of a Nephrologist. Firstly, a medical doctor’s degree is imperative to purse this profession.

• Next, a completion of the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education residency program in internal medicine for two years is essential to purse this career.

• A certification in internal medicine by the Accreditation Council is mandated by the American Board of Internal Medicine, to purse Nephrology.

• Following this, a three year fellowship in nephrology and a National Examination conducted by the Board are required for certification and license to practice Nephrology in the United States.
