As enthusiasm explodes for the Hope Probe to reach orbit around Mars after overcoming the most important part of its journey, the area supports the UAE's efforts in space.
The complicated maneuver involves reversing the spacecraft and firing the six Delta-V thrusters of the Hope probe in a 27-minute 'burn' to rapidly slow the spacecraft's speed from 121,000 km/h to 18,000 km/h.
Communication between the probe and the operations team is held to a minimum during the Mars Orbit Insertion process. The Hope Probe will transition to the Research process if it reaches Martian orbit successfully, and will capture and send the first photo of Mars within a week.
