About Our Client
We are seeking a commercially astute and organized Senior Purchaser to lead the procurement function for an established construction organization in the UAE. Our client delivers fast-paced building projects and this role is pivotal in ensuring that project sites are seamlessly supplied with cost-effective high-quality materials and sub-contracted services.
Role Purpose & Summary
The Senior Purchaser holds absolute accountability for the efficiency commercial viability and timeliness of the procurement lifecycle. Leading the procurement function you will oversee strategic sourcing vendor evaluations pricing negotiations and ERP records management. Because errors or delays in procurement immediately impact project timelines our client requires an analytical professional who strictly adheres to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Delegations of Authority (DOA).
Key Responsibilities
- Planning & Strategy: Methodically review project BOQs technical specifications and procurement plans. Identify long-lead items early create resilient procurement schedules and prioritize critical assets alongside PMs and ERP Coordinators.
- Vendor Management & Benchmarking: Source evaluate and officially register high-performing suppliers and subcontractors. Maintain a deep vendor database run consistent price benchmarking exercises and review performance histories.
- Procurement Execution: Assess Material Requests (MRs) for accuracy prepare and distribute RFQs mathematically evaluate quotes create comparative sheets negotiate excellent payment and delivery terms and issue ERP-based Local Purchase Orders (LPOs) in compliance with the corporate DOA.
- Compliance & Logistics: Coordinate directly with QA/QC to ensure all materials match approved project samples and specifications. Track logistics and delivery timelines resolve discrepancies between LPOs Delivery Notes (DNs) and Invoices and proactively prevent over-ordering and waste.
- ERP & Reporting: Keep the ERP system completely updated with attached quotes and approvals. Maintain accurate procurement logs and deliver weekly status reports delivery schedules and monthly summaries directly to the MD/GM.
Candidate Requirements
- Experience: Proven track record as a Senior Purchaser or Procurement Lead within the construction industry ideally in the UAE market.
- Technical Savvy: High competency working within ERP software environments is required.
- Core Competencies: Exceptional negotiation skills a deep existing network of construction material suppliers and subcontractors and strong commercial acumen.
- Attributes: Highly process-oriented with strict adherence to compliance framework policies (SOPs/DOAs) outstanding reporting abilities and a proactive attitude toward avoiding project delays.
