Geotab is seeking a Senior Electronics Lab Technician who will prepare devices for network certification testing and build and maintain the manufacturing test equipment and fixtures used by our Production and Automotive teams. As a Senior Electronics Lab Technician your key area of responsibility will be building troubleshooting and repairing mechanical electrical and pneumatic production jigs and equipment as well as assembling programming and testing Geotab GO and IOX devices. You will solder and desolder components design and assemble wiring harnesses apply labels load firmware as requested by certification specialists and run devices through test procedures to validate compliance with lab requirements. You will need to work closely with the Test and Automation Engineering team as well as the Production and Automotive teams to ensure equipment and test procedures meet quality standards.
To be successful in this role you will be a highly organized self-starter who can multitask and stay calm under pressure and fast-changing priorities with strong analytical and problem-solving skills to diagnose and correct the root causes of equipment product and process addition the successful candidate will have excellent verbal and written communication skills the ability to read technical drawings and schematics and a genuine interest in staying current with new technologies and testing techniques.
- Build troubleshoot and repair mechanical electrical and pneumatic production jigs and equipment
- Assemble program and test Geotab GO and IOX devices including soldering/desoldering and harness assembly
- Load firmware and run devices through test procedures to validate compliance ahead of network certification
- Document device details procedures best practices templates and tools for the wider team
- Provide expert subject matter guidance mentor and train new team members and support automation initiatives
- Support global strategic initiatives across the Test and Automation function
- 8 years of experience in electronics testing and troubleshooting with strong troubleshooting techniques
- Ability to read technical drawings and schematics with manual dexterity and comfort using test measuring tools
- Post-Secondary Diploma or Degree in Electronics Computer or Mechatronics Engineering or a related field
- IPC Certification (IPC-A-610 IPC-7711/IPC-7721 IPC J-STD-001) is an asset
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work well under pressure and shifting priorities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and comfort with Google Suite
- A team player with an entrepreneurial mindset comfortable operating in a flat organization

The annual base salary for this position is the expected annual salary for this role and may be subject to change. Geotab offers various perks and benefits and other compensation components that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary for this position depends on a variety of factors such as but not limited to skills qualifications education and overall experience including the location the applicant lives while performing the job. This also includes equity with other team members and alignment with local market data. All offers of employment are contingent upon proof of eligibility to work and the individuals ability to pass a background check.
