Senior BIM Technician

Produce the most demanding models and drawing packages in a project team and work without close supervision. On the responsibility matrix the role carries no accountability of its own: it is responsible for the delivery and deliverables scope and is the grade the team relies on to get difficult production right the first time.

Key responsibilities

Model and drawing production

• Deliver models and drawings for the teams scope including complex gravity and pressure networks corridors surfaces and cross sections.
• Apply NOC data standardisation and base plan standardisation to the work.
• Maintain base plan and title block requirements at each milestone stage.
• Produce BIM models to the required geometry and attributes and export them to the proprietary formats the project asks for.
• Maintain the single source of truth for 2D extraction of the drawings.
• Checking
• Produce cut sheets bind drawings and carry out the drawing quality control self-check.
• Apply the discipline model checklist and the 3D check before submission.
• Apply the drawing checklist and CAD standard compliance check the 2D check.
• Carry out the final drawing sanity check before the set goes to review.
• Check the technicians work before it reaches the team lead.

Coordination

• Take part in the clash resolution activity and fix the clashes assigned to the team.
• Support the master and task information delivery plans with realistic input on what the work takes.
• Contribute to quantity take-off where it feeds the bill of quantities.
• Mentoring
• Demonstrate the standard and the workflow to technicians and mentor them day to day.
• Use the design automation tools for repetitive work and report defects so they can be fixed.

Qualifications :

• Diploma in civil engineering or draughtsmanship or a degree in a related discipline.
• 6 years of infrastructure modelling and drafting in an engineering consultancy.
• Proven Civil 3D production work on live infrastructure projects not training exercises.
• Middle East experience preferred.

Technical requirements

• Civil 3D to an advanced level: pipe and pressure networks corridors surfaces data shortcuts styles label sets and sheet sets.
• AutoCAD and Navisworks for clash review.
• Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360 for day-to-day file management and package sharing.
• Bluebeam Revu for markup.
• Revit Plant 3D or Dynamo are an advantage.
