Research Scientist in the Division of Science (Computer Science) Dr. Nizar Habash

The Computational Approaches to Modeling Language (CAMeL) Lab at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applications for a Research Scientist / Scholar position in natural language processing (NLP) computational linguistics artificial intelligence and related areas. The successful candidate will contribute to and lead research initiatives aligned with the labs mission while developing an independent research program.

The CAMeL Lab conducts research in NLP computational linguistics and data science with a particular focus on Arabic language technologies. Current research areas include grammatical error correction text generation computational morphology syntactic parsing dialect and non-standard language modeling pedagogical applications machine translation and text analytics. Since its establishment in 2014 the lab has produced over 200 publications and more than 20 language resources and tools. The lab website is Google Scholar of the lab is at position will target the position of Research Scientist (open rank; more than 3 years of PhD). We seek candidates with a PhD degree with at least 6 years in computer science computer engineering computational linguistics language technologies artificial intelligence or a closely related field along with substantial research experience and a strong publication record in leading journals and conferences. Candidates should demonstrate research leadership the ability to develop and manage independent research projects and expertise in machine learning and NLP.

The successful candidate will be expected to lead innovative research projects contribute to the development of open-source tools and resources mentor junior researchers and students publish in top-tier venues and participate in collaborative research and grant-development activities. Knowledge of Arabic and experience in Arabic NLP are desirable but not required.
