Job Summary:
Metabolic is seeking a DHA Licensed Radiographer / Sonographer to provide high-quality diagnostic imaging services within our integrated metabolic and multidisciplinary clinical environment.
The successful candidate will be responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations and where within their scope of practice and DHA licensing radiographic imaging. The role requires strong technical expertise accurate image acquisition excellent patient communication and a commitment to clinical quality patient safety and regulatory compliance.
The position will support metabolic endocrine cardiovascular etc. and general diagnostic assessments working closely with physicians and the wider multidisciplinary clinical team.
Key Responsibilities
1. Diagnostic Imaging & Ultrasound:
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations in accordance with physician referrals clinical indications established protocols and scope of practice.
- Conduct a range of ultrasound examinations appropriate to qualifications and clinical competency including (among others):
- Abdominal ultrasound
- Pelvic ultrasound
- Thyroid ultrasound
- Small-parts ultrasound
- Soft-tissue ultrasound
- Vascular and Doppler studies
- Perform liver and metabolic-related imaging and assessment including liver elastography and FibroScan/FibroTouch-type examinations where trained and competent.
- Support OSA-related diagnostic assessments where ultrasound or relevant imaging modalities form part of the clinical pathway and the candidate is appropriately trained.
- Where appropriately qualified and licensed perform general radiographic examinations within the scope of the role.
- Obtain high-quality diagnostic images using appropriate techniques and protocols.
- Ensure correct patient identification examination selection positioning image acquisition and documentation.
- Recognise and appropriately escalate significant or unexpected findings to the supervising physician radiologist or relevant clinician.
- Ensure images are correctly labelled stored and archived within PACS/EMR systems.
- 2. Patient Care & Experience
- Prepare and position patients appropriately for diagnostic imaging procedures.
- Explain examinations clearly and professionally ensuring patients understand the procedure and have the opportunity to ask questions
- Maintain patient dignity privacy comfort and confidentiality throughout the examination.
- Adapt communication and examination techniques to patients with different levels of mobility anxiety age and clinical complexity.
- Maintain a calm reassuring and patient-centred approach throughout the patient journey.
- Identify and escalate any patient concerns or clinical deterioration appropriately.
3. Clinical Collaboration:
- Work closely with physicians nurses and other members of the multidisciplinary team to support timely and appropriate diagnostic assessment.
- Communicate relevant technical observations and examination limitations clearly to the requesting clinician.
- Support clinicians with appropriate diagnostic imaging information while maintaining professional scope and boundaries.
- Participate in multidisciplinary case discussions where appropriate.
- Contribute to the development and optimisation of imaging pathways within Metabolic.
4. Equipment & Quality Control
- Operate ultrasound and other imaging equipment safely effectively and in accordance with manufacturer and clinical protocols.
- Perform routine equipment checks and quality-control procedures.
- Ensure ultrasound probes transducers and imaging equipment are appropriately cleaned and maintained.
- Report equipment faults technical issues or maintenance requirements promptly.
- Support calibration servicing and preventive maintenance activities where required.
- Maintain appropriate infection prevention and control procedures for imaging equipment and clinical areas.
5. Documentation Compliance & Clinical Governance
- Maintain accurate complete and timely clinical documentation within the EMR and relevant imaging systems.
- Ensure diagnostic images and associated information are correctly recorded and stored.
- Adhere to all applicable DHA regulations professional standards clinical policies and scope-of-practice requirements.
- Follow relevant radiation protection and radiation safety requirements when performing radiographic examinations.
- Maintain appropriate patient identification consent confidentiality and data protection procedures.
- Participate in clinical audits quality assurance programmes and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Maintain all required professional licences certifications competencies and continuing professional development.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelors degree or Diploma in Diagnostic Medical Sonography Medical Imaging Radiologic Technology or a related recognised discipline.
- Valid DHA licence or eligibility as a Radiographer and/or Sonographer appropriate to the candidates qualifications and scope of practice.
- Minimum 23 years of relevant clinical imaging experience.
- Strong practical experience in diagnostic ultrasound is highly desirable.
- Experience in abdominal thyroid pelvic soft-tissue or vascular ultrasound preferred.
- Experience with Doppler FibroScan/FibroTouch or other advanced ultrasound modalities is desirable.
- Experience in an outpatient clinic diagnostic centre hospital or multidisciplinary healthcare setting preferred.
- Familiarity with PACS EMR/EHR systems and digital imaging workflows.
- Strong understanding of patient safety infection prevention and control and clinical governance.
- Ability to work within defined professional competencies and escalate findings appropriately.

Required Skills:
Qualifications & Experience: Active DHA license or DHA eligibility letter as a Cardiologist (Specialist and/or Consultant) MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognised institution. Board Certification or equivalent specialist qualification in Cardiology. Minimum 5 years of post-qualification clinical experience in cardiology. Experience in cardiovascular risk assessment prevention and chronic disease management. Experience managing patients with diabetes obesity metabolic syndrome hypertension or dyslipidaemia is preferred. Experience working within a multidisciplinary clinical environment. Experience performing and/or interpreting cardiovascular diagnostic investigations including ECG echocardiography stress testing and Holter Arabic language - a bonus
