The Role

  • To oversee the Recreation operations and recreation facilities of the Hotel
  • To be entrepreneurial and to think beyond the boundaries is expected and not requested
  • To provide service that is sincere warm and enthusiastic ensuring the guests satisfaction
  • To take the time to get to know the guests and to be committed to service excellence

Key Deliverables and Responsibilities

Planning & Organizing:

  1. Coordinating purchasing for the Spa & gym with the finance team as per the hotel procedures
  2. Plan gym activities classes and communicate to members and guests.
  3. Conduct interviews for candidates in the department in conjunction with Human Resources and prepare job descriptions.
  4. Adhere to and monitor departmental operating expenses as per departmental budget and forecast.
  5. Review and monitor departmental work schedules oversee that departmental payroll is in line with budgets.
  6. Regularly complete a competitor analysis and make recommendations as required
  7. Work with the marketing team to come up with a plan to meet membership sales targets.

Operational

  1. Train and develop the recreation team in line with the departmental operating standards
  2. Maintain a consistent focus on improving the overall flow of the recreation operations seeking ways to maximize and improve the operation through productivity management and energy savings programs
  3. To lead and support employees in the achievement of financial operational and service delivery targets via effective organizational policy and procedural development and appropriate employee training activities
  4. Foster a winning solutionoriented work environment motivating and engaging employees to continuously deliver the best possible service and to provide feedback and suggestions
  5. To lead daily Recreation briefings and monthly employee meetings
  6. To have a complete understanding of and to adhere to Mvenpick Hotels & Resorts policy relating to Fire Hygiene Health and Safety.
  7. To drive the performance of the Recreation team members including completion of performance appraisals coaching counselling and performance management in conjunction with Human Resources
  8. Ensure the team work within the department with a sales focused attitude and team are aware of sales opportunities within the gym which will assist with the maximization of revenue.
  9. Ensure all team members are aware of all Recreation revenue/membership targets and are kept informed of performance results.
  10. Ensure guests are communicated with and assisted in an efficient warm and professional manner by all team members.
  11. To ensure a consistently high standard of grooming is followed and by self and team
  12. Actively review guest comments and feedback communicate this with the team members and implement procedures to enhance guest satisfaction
  13. Have full knowledge of all products and services provided by the property and in the local area
  14. Actively participate in guest events when requested.
  15. Regularly spot check duty shift checklists to ensure tasks are completed.
  16. Work with Housekeeping to ensure the Recreation areas are kept clean and towels are available for members and guests at all times.
  17. Provide personal training programs and tips to members a required.
  18. To carry out any other reasonable duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Financial

  1. Make sure you collect correct money from guests

Administration:

  1. To work closely with the Finance department to produce monthly financial reports timely & accurately
  2. Maintain up to date member records and data base
  3. Take payments for membership fees in an accurate and timely manner
  4. Provide show familiarisations to potential members
  5. Prepare gym membership cards
  6. To review the employee schedule and annual leave plan to ensure the correct allocation of resources in order to improve member/guest satisfaction level as well as employee productivity and satisfaction
  7. Oversee the implementation of a training plan for all recreation team members
  8. Monitor and keep updated training records and schedules to ensure planning and completion is carried out as per hotel standard.

Qualifications :

  • Proven experience working as a Spa Supervisor
  • CPR and First Aid certifications are advantageous
  • Effective communication skills
  • Exceptional customer service skills
