Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare a wide variety of authentic South Indian dishes such as dosa idli sambar biryani and traditional curries.
- Ensure the use of fresh and highquality ingredients maintaining the original flavor and aroma of South Indian cuisine.
- Cook and serve meals in a timely manner adhering to the set menu and portion control guidelines.
- Monitor the kitchens cleanliness and hygiene ensuring adherence to food safety standards and regulations.
- Manage stock levels of ingredients ensuring proper inventory control and avoiding food wastage.
- Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure smooth kitchen operations especially during peak hours.
- Experiment with traditional recipes and suggest new dishes to the menu based on customer preferences.
- Maintain kitchen equipment and report any maintenance issues to the management.
- Ensure that the kitchen environment is safe organized and compliant with health and safety standards.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
- Experience: 1 to 3 years of experience as a South Indian Cook (home country experience acceptable).
- Culinary Skills: Proficiency in preparing a variety of traditional South Indian dishes using authentic spices and methods.
- Knowledge of Spices: Strong understanding of South Indian spices and their usage in different dishes.
- Food Safety: Knowledge and practice of food hygiene kitchen safety standards and safe cooking practices.
- Efficiency: Ability to work efficiently in a fastpaced kitchen especially during busy meal times.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well within a team and maintain effective communication with other kitchen staff.
- Adaptability: Ability to take initiative adapt to new recipes and continuously improve cooking skills.
Additional Criteria:
- Strong physical stamina to handle long hours of standing and working in a hot kitchen environment.
- Flexibility to work early mornings late nights weekends and holidays based on kitchen needs.
Proven experience as a Head Chef, with a minimum of 5 years in a similar role. Exceptional ability in kitchen management, including menu planning, staff supervision, and inventory control. Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team. Up-to-date knowledge of culinary trends and best practices, with a focus on optimizing kitchen processes. Proficiency in computer programs such as MS Office, restaurant management software, and POS systems. Degree in Culinary Science or a related certificate is preferred.
