As a professional in your role, your responsibilities and essential job functions will include but are not limited to:
- Warmly welcome and greet guests as they arrive at the all-day dining restaurant.
- Manage reservations and seating arrangements efficiently, maintaining an organized and welcoming entrance.
- Take and manage restaurant reservations, ensuring accurate recording and communication with the kitchen and service staff.
- Handle inquiries over the phone or through electronic channels, providing information about menus, special events, and policies.
- Coordinate with servers and kitchen staff to optimize table turnover and ensure timely service.
- Maintain a waitlist during peak hours, providing estimated wait times to guests.
- Escort guests to their tables and present menus, ensuring a smooth transition between the reception and dining areas.
- Respond to guest requests and inquiries, providing information about menu items, daily specials, and restaurant promotions.
- Communicate effectively with the kitchen, servers, and management to ensure efficient service.
- Relay special requests and dietary restrictions to the kitchen staff.
- Provide exceptional customer service by anticipating guest needs and addressing concerns promptly.
- Handle guest feedback with professionalism and take necessary actions to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Manage cash transactions, including processing payments and providing change accurately.
- Ensure compliance with cash-handling procedures and maintain the security of cash at the reception.
- Keep the reception area clean and organized, including menus, reservation books, and waiting areas.
- Ensure a visually appealing and inviting entrance for guests.
Ideally, you should possess some or all the following qualifications and experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience in a hostess/host or receptionist role, preferably in a hotel or restaurant setting.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Strong organizational abilities to manage reservations and guest flow efficiently.
- Customer-focused with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Ability to handle high-pressure situations and remain composed.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Ability to work collaboratively with servers, kitchen staff, and other team members.
- Always maintain a professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
