Responsibilities
General:
- Assume responsibility for assigned Pipeline engineering work scopes
- Overall responsibility for the scheduling and monitoring the quality of the work procedure
- Mentor and Coach young pipeline engineers, provide advice to peers in this field
- To carry out Pipeline discipline work within a project team, supporting the project team for field development of oil and gas production facilities
- To plan, budget, organize, and control a segment of the Pipeline engineering deliverables for the project
- To prepare Pipeline deliverables for a project in the oil and gas industry, and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and procedures
- To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule
- To liaise with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion
- To provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline
- To co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up
- To assist in the coordination of all activities related to Pipeline engineering design
- To identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required
- To promote safe behaviour at all times
Technical
Working within the pipeline design team on onshore feasibility, conceptual, basic engineering, FEED, detailed design and EPC / EPCM projects.
- Develop the pipeline design basis
- Pipeline Route selection, ROW width selection, Crossing method selection, trenching / backfilling design.
- Carry out Site visit / Survey and Data Collection
- Perform Pipeline route selection and reconnaissance
- Perform following pipelines design activities:
- Mechanical calculations line pipes and bend material grade and wall thickness. Expansion/Anchor forces Calculations,
- Buoyancy, Ovality/Buckling check,
- Road/Rail Crossing, River Crossing, Fault Crossing analysis
- Pipeline Stress Analysis Using Caesar-II/Auto pipe Software
- Knowledge of Design, Materials, Construction, Fabrication, Inspection and Testing of Pipeline items
- Prepare pipeline materials/items, coating, inspection, testing and installation specifications/DataSheets
- Prepare pipeline material requisition, perform technical bid evaluation / analysis and vendor data review
- Provide material take off and bill of material
- To aware of Environmental aspects (ISO14001) of oil and gas design.
- To aware of Safety aspects of design in relation to the project cycle; e.g. HAZID, HAZOP, QRA and risk analysis techniques.
- Proficiency in MS Excel, Mathcad, Caesar II/Autopipe and awareness in Arc GIS, Autocad
Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering
- Total experience of around 15 years with a Minimum of 5 years relevant experience in an engineering design company as a Lead Pipeline Engineer
- Operational support / construction and commissioning experience
- Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred
- Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
- Experience of sour service operations would be an advantage
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of the fundamentals of Pipeline engineering design and analysis
- Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards
- Familiar with the typical software packages that are used for Pipeline engineering design
