Job Description:

LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a skilled and experienced Plant Breeder to join our client's team in Charlotte, NC. As a Plant Breeder, you will play a crucial role in developing and improving plant varieties to meet the needs of our client's food and beverage production. This position requires a deep understanding of agronomy, plant breeding techniques, and hands-on experience working on farms.

Responsibilities:

• Conduct research and experiments to develop new plant varieties with desired traits such as yield, quality, and resistance to diseases or pests.
• Utilize breeding techniques such as crossbreeding, selection, and genetic modification to improve plant characteristics.
• Manage and maintain plant breeding programs, including field trials, data collection, and analysis.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including agronomists, geneticists, and farmers to ensure successful breeding programs.
• Evaluate and select plant varieties based on performance metrics, market demands, and consumer preferences.
• Stay updated with advancements in plant breeding technology, genetics, and agricultural practices.
• Document research findings, prepare reports, and communicate results to stakeholders.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to plant breeding and genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
  

Requirements:

• Master's degree in Agronomy, Plant Breeding, Plant Genetics, or a related field.
• Hands-on experience working on farms or in agricultural research settings.
• Knowledge of plant breeding techniques, genetics, and crop management practices.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to interpret data and research findings.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
• Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in data collection and analysis.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
• Familiarity with regulatory guidelines and ethical considerations in plant breeding and GMO research.
