Job Overview:

We are looking for a skilled and seasoned bilingual (Arabic and English) Editor to join the editorial team of a contract inflight travel magazine for our client Etihad Airways. The ideal candidate will have a passion for travel a keen eye for detail exceptional editorial skills a strong attention to detail ability to work under deadlines and the ability to create and curate compelling content that aligns with Etihad s brand guidelines.

Role summary:

The Deputy Editor will work closely with the Client and the editorial team to create the overall production of the inflight travel magazine ensuring the delivery of highquality content that aligns with the Client s brand vision and engages the airline s diverse readership.

Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with the editor and team members to create and manage the editorial calendar decide on themes for each issue and plan content around seasons events or destinations.
  
• Write edit and oversee the creation of engaging and relevant articles features and other content types relating to travel and destinations.
  
• Ensure all content adheres to the magazines quality standards and is error free.
  
• Collaborate with the editorial team freelancers and contributors providing guidance and feedback.
  
• Liaise with other departments such as design photography advertising and printing to ensure a smooth production process.
  
• Work with external contributors travel agencies tourism boards and freelancers to coordinate content creation and acquisition.
  
• Analyse market trends reader feedback and competitor magazines to identify opportunities and competition.
  
• Assist the Editor with developing and implementing content strategies to enhance reader engagement and magazine popularity.
  
• Propose new ideas features or sections to keep the magazines content fresh and engaging.
  
• Edit articles and other content for clarity coherence style and adherence to the magazines guidelines.
  
• Review the final proofs of the magazine to ensure there are no errors before it goes to print.
  
• Represent the magazine at industry events conferences and other public forums.
  
• Work with the marketing team to promote the magazine through various channels including social media and build relationships with potential advertisers and sponsors.
  
• Manage the editorial budget allocate resources efficiently and ensure that expenditures remain within budget.
  
• Negotiate costs with external contributors freelancers and service providers to maintain budgetary control.
  
• Ensure all content complies with copyright laws and manage permissions and rights for images text and other content.
  
• Uphold and enforce the magazines ethical standards and editorial guidelines.
  

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor s degree in Journalism Communications English or a related field.
  
• A minimum of three years of editorial experience preferably in client travel or lifestyle publications.
  

Required Skills:

• Exceptional Arabic and English written and verbal communication skills.
  
• Strong editorial skills including editing proofreading and factchecking.
  
• Creative thinker with a keen eye for design and visual aesthetics.
  
• Excellent organisational and project management skills.
  
• Proficient in using editorial software and tools.
