The BSO performs more than 100 concerts during the regular season at Symphony Hall. The BSO also performs during the summer at the Tanglewood music center; other BSO-related performances are given by the smaller and lighter Boston Pops orchestra. One of the more prominent orchestras in the US, the BSO was founded in 1881 by businessman Henry Lee Higginson.
