This role will oversee and autonomously run new business pitches of varying sizes, will actively prospect and advocate for the agency, and work closely with the Comms team on projects that advance and enhance the agency's profile among the business community
In general, this role will participate in and manage all agency business development activity
Setting the agency management and pitch teams up for success through the development of in-depth prospect backgrounders including client, brand, advertising, category, and competitive insight into presentations
Generate chemistry meeting decks including design, suggested cases, and the development of perspectives/observations/provocations on the client's business when needed
Partner with the CMO and identified pitch team in all aspects of pitching for new business
Tasks include, but are not limited to: aiding strategy team with primary and secondary research, helping to identify and resolve resourcing and casting for pitches across all departments, participating in and contributing to strategy and creative reviews, proactively working with resourcing and design to generate deck/design templates for use throughout the pitch process, partner with production and third-party production partners to manage delivery of pitch stimuli and assets
New Business Lead - shows up in the room as the agency lead in pitch presentations and can serve as the primary contact for client pitches in all phases of the process
Partner closely with internal and prospective client administrative professionals to ensure meeting scheduling, logistics, and communications are flawlessly outlined, established, and communicated to all parties
Partner in prospecting strategy development through both researching assigned brands and bringing proactive ideas for target categories, brands, and/or clients
Assist in generating RFIs and RFPs for prospective clients
Develop the annual growth strategy using industry knowledge, cultural insight, and business acumen to identify target categories and brands
Ongoing and proactive outreach recommendations based on industry news, decision-maker movement, leads, etc
Able to serve on new client transition teams after new business wins, assisting the Business Lead in continuity during the onboarding, ramp-up, and staffing for prospects that have converted into agency clients
Be a consistent partner to comms team, assisting on projects, keeping them informed on new business, and proactively offering ideas for how the agency can show up in the world outside of our work for clients
Qualifications
8+ years of agency experience preferably with 5 years of business development experience within an advertising agency or creative service
Solid track record of developing successful relationships with internal and external partners
Communicates effectively and with influence at all levels and across all functions
Confirmed and proven record of closing major accounts
Strategic decision-making toward achieving objectives and maximizing business performance
Understands industry developments, market trends, and their impact on business
Strong client-facing communication skills with the ability to quickly understand client needs
