Summary
The Skilled Technician (Painter) is responsible for performing painting tasks throughout the hotel property. This includes applying paint varnish stains and finishes to a wide variety of surfaces including walls furniture doors and other hotel fixtures. The role ensures that the hotels aesthetic standards are upheld and that the propertys interior and exterior surfaces remain in pristine condition providing a visually appealing environment for guests
Responsibilities
- Perform painting tasks on walls ceilings doors windows and other surfaces as required ensuring a high-quality finish.
- Apply varnishes stains and other finishes to wooden furniture doors trim and other items to restore or enhance their appearance.
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning sanding filling holes and applying primers as needed.
- Choose appropriate paints stains and finishes for various surfaces ensuring that all materials meet hotel standards.
- Polish and maintain the appearance of metal wood and other surfaces ensuring they are free of scratches and maintain a smooth high-gloss finish.
- Perform touch-ups and minor repairs to painted and polished surfaces to maintain their condition and appearance.
- Regularly inspect and touch up painted surfaces throughout the hotel to ensure that the aesthetic quality remains at its best.
- Clean and prepare surfaces by removing dirt grime old paint or other contaminants before applying fresh coats or finishes.
- Use a variety of techniques such as sanding scraping or chemical cleaning to prepare surfaces for painting and polishing.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of any materials paints and chemicals used in the preparation and application processes.
- Communicate effectively with other departments (e.g. housekeeping engineering) to schedule work and ensure that tasks are completed without impacting guest comfort.
- Respond to requests for maintenance or repairs promptly ensuring minimal downtime and high guest satisfaction.
- Follow all health safety and environmental regulations while performing painting and polishing tasks.
- Use the correct protective equipment (e.g. masks gloves safety goggles) to ensure personal safety during the handling of chemicals paints and tools
- Keep track of paint varnish and other supplies used in daily work ensuring that adequate stock levels are maintained.
- Maintain and care for all tools and equipment used in the painting and polishing process ensuring they are clean in good condition and safely stored.
- Report any inventory shortages or equipment malfunctions to the Engineering or Maintenance Supervisor to ensure minimal disruption to work.
- Perform any other duties or responsibilities as assigned by management to support the effective operation of the department and the broader goals of the property.
