Role Overview
The Deputy Vice Chancellor Shared Services is a senior executive responsible for leading and managing all centralised support functions across the organisation. The role ensures that shared services operate as an integrated efficient scalable and service-oriented business unit that enables the institution to focus on its core strategic and operational priorities. The postholder provides strategic direction operational excellence and leadership to a range of services that support organisational effectiveness and growth.
Key Responsibilities
Provide overall strategic leadership and operational oversight for all shared services functions including Human Capital Finance Procurement Marketing & Communications Facilities Health Safety & Environment and other central services
Develop and sustain a unified Shared Services operating model that promotes efficiency consistency accountability and superior customer service
Align shared services strategy with the organisations mission goals and strategic plans
Establish monitor and report on service standards performance indicators service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance metrics to drive continuous improvement and operational transparency
Lead process optimisation digital transformation and service innovation initiatives across shared services to modernise operations and improve outcomes
Ensure compliance with applicable laws regulatory requirements governance frameworks and industry standards
Oversee budgeting financial management cost optimisation procurement policy and resource planning within shared services
Provide strategic direction for institutional communications branding and stakeholder engagement across operational units
Oversee facilities planning maintenance and HSE compliance to ensure safe and functional environments
Build mentor and lead a high-performing leadership team that fosters collaboration accountability and a customer-centric culture
Strengthen relationships with internal and external stakeholders including government authorities vendors partners and regulatory bodies
Advise executive leadership on performance risks investments workforce requirements and opportunities for improvement
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Masters degree in Business Administration Public Administration Management Finance Operations or a related field; relevant executive leadership certifications are advantageous (e.g. project management executive leadership operations management)
Minimum of 1215 years of progressive leadership experience with significant responsibility for shared services corporate services enterprise operations or large-scale organisational support functions
Demonstrated success in leading and transforming multi-department operations with measurable improvements in efficiency service delivery and customer satisfaction
Proven track record in developing and implementing integrated service delivery models
Experience managing complex budgets procurement operations and financial oversight at executive level
Strong experience in change management operational excellence performance measurement and continuous improvement
Experience working at executive leadership level in education government corporate or multi-site environments is desirable
