The Material Engineer is responsible for reviewing project specifications drawings and standards and preparing material submittals prequalification (PQ) documents and technical inputs for RFQ packages.
The role ensures that all proposed materials and suppliers are fully compliant with project requirements specifications and applicable codes supporting efficient and risk-controlled procurement.
The Material Engineer acts as a technical interface between Engineering Procurement and Suppliers ensuring accuracy completeness and timely submission of all material-related documentation.
- Review project specifications drawings schedules and technical requirements
- Prepare material submittals in accordance with contract and project specifications
- Prepare supplier and material prequalification (PQ) documents
- Ensure all material submittals comply with:
- Project specifications
- Applicable codes and standards
- Employer and consultant requirements
- Coordinate with design and engineering teams to clarify technical requirements
- Assist Procurement Engineer in preparation of RFQ documents including:
- Selection of relevant drawings
- Selection of applicable specifications
- Technical scope descriptions
- Review supplier technical data sheets catalogues and compliance statements
- Prepare technical comparison sheets and compliance matrices
- Coordinate technical clarifications between suppliers and engineering teams
- Maintain organized records of material submittals approvals and revisions
- Support timely resubmission and closure of comments from consultants or clients
Qualifications :
- Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical Electrical)
- Knowledge in international codes and standards relevant to construction projects is a plus
- Minimum 5 years experience in material engineering or technical procurement support
- Experience on building or infrastructure projects preferred
- Experience in MEP materials is an advantage
