Mechanical/Piping Engineer plays a key role in overseeing the planning design construction and maintenance of piping systems across major energy and water projects. The role ensures that all piping activities comply with project specifications industry codes and best engineering practices while supporting safe high-quality and timely project execution.
JOB DESCRIPTION
Supervision & Oversight:
- Review and monitor EPC Contractors piping design deliverables including isometrics GA drawings stress analysis and material specifications.
- Review design elements for gas/steam turbines HRSG condensers pumps valves and auxiliary mechanical equipment.
- Ensure compliance with applicable industry codes and standards (ASME ASTM EN).
- Validate technical solutions for piping routing pipe supports and equipment interfaces.
Construction Monitoring:
- Supervise piping fabrication and erection at site.
- Ensure installation follows approved drawings procedures and quality plans.
- Review and comment on Method Statements and ITPs.
- Participate in inspections and witness testing such as hydrotests flushing and NDT.
Quality & Safety:
- Monitor workmanship quality identify non-conformances and follow up on corrective actions.
- Promote and enforce HSSE standards; participate in safety walks and Toolbox Talks.
- Take active responsibility for personal and team safety adhering to all HSSE requirements.
- Report unsafe acts hazards incidents or near misses immediately.
Progress & Coordination:
- Track and report progress of piping activities identifying risks or schedule delays.
- Coordinate with civil mechanical electrical and other engineering disciplines.
- Support resolution of technical queries and construction challenges.
Documentation & Handover:
- Review as-built documents test reports and turnover packages.
- Ensure all documentation is complete for project close-out and commissioning readiness.
Reporting:
- Prepare weekly progress reports outlining key issues risks and achievements.
- Comply with all safe work instructions permit requirements and HSSE procedures.
- Attend required HSSE training toolbox meetings and internal coordination sessions.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering Piping Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience as a Piping/Mechanical Engineer in Power (CCGT) or EPC projects.
- Strong technical knowledge of turbine systems HRSG BOP systems cooling water systems and auxiliary mechanical systems.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is a strong advantage.
- Solid understanding of piping engineering principles industry standards and codes.
- Proficiency in piping design tools and CAD software.
- Strong project management capability with excellent communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
