Job Summary
Apt Resources is seeking an experienced Dairy Farm Senior Stockman to join our clients operations. As a Senior Stockman you will be responsible for overseeing the care and management of dairy livestock ensuring high standards of animal welfare and productivity. This role requires a proactive individual with strong leadership skills and extensive knowledge of dairy farming practices.
Responsibilities
- Supervise daily operations of the dairy farm and manage livestock care including feeding milking and health monitoring.
- Oversee the maintenance of barns equipment and pastures ensuring a safe and clean environment for the animals.
- Assist in breeding and reproductive management of the herd.
- Train and mentor junior stockmen and farm staff on best practices for livestock handling.
- Record and analyze data related to production and herd health.
- Ensure compliance with animal welfare regulations and farm policies.
- Work closely with veterinarians and agricultural specialists to optimize livestock health and productivity.
- Manage feeding schedules and nutrition plans for dairy cattle.
- Participate in budgeting and resource planning for the dairy operation.
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in dairy farm management or a similar role.
- In-depth knowledge of dairy farming practices and animal husbandry.
- Strong leadership and management skills to oversee farm operations and staff.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work long hours and adapt to changing farm conditions.
- Certified in animal husbandry or agriculture-related fields is preferred.
- Proficient in using farm management software for data tracking.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
