Job Summary
Job Title: Florist
Job Summary: The florist is responsible for creating floral arrangements managing inventory assisting customers and maintaining the overall appearance of the shop. They play a crucial role in ensuring customer satisfaction through high-quality floral designs and excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
Floral Design and Arrangement:
Create and design floral arrangements for various occasions such as weddings funerals holidays and everyday use.
- Utilize knowledge of different flowers foliage and their seasonal availability to create appropriate arrangements.
- Customize arrangements based on customer specifications and preferences.
Customer Service:
- Greet and assist customers in selecting flowers plants and other related products.
- Provide advice and suggestions to customers regarding flower care arrangement and suitable selections for specific occasions.
- Handle customer inquiries complaints and special requests in a professional manner.
Sales and Transactions:
Process sales transactions using the shops point of sale (POS) system.
- Manage cash register and handle money accurately.
- Upsell additional products such as vases greeting cards and other gift items.
Inventory Management:
Monitor stock levels of flowers plants and supplies; place orders with suppliers as needed.
- Inspect flower deliveries for quality and freshness; properly store and condition flowers to maintain their longevity.
- Keep track of inventory and report any shortages or issues to the shop manager.
Shop Maintenance:
Maintain a clean organized and visually appealing shop environment.
- Ensure floral displays are fresh attractive and replenished regularly.
- Clean work areas tools and equipment after use to maintain hygiene and efficiency.
Event Coordination:
Assist with the planning and execution of floral arrangements for events and special occasions.
- Collaborate with event planners customers and other stakeholders to ensure floral needs are met.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills:
- Strong artistic and creative skills with a good eye for design colour and balance.
- Knowledge of different flowers plants and floral design techniques.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Basic math skills for handling transactions and managing inventory.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines especially during peak seasons and holidays.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and handle heavy floral arrangements.
- Flexibility to work weekends holidays and special events as needed.
Preferred:
- Certification in floral design or related field.
- Previous experience in a retail environment.
