Roles and responsibilities
The General Manager of Supply Chain Management is responsible for driving a future-ready supply chain through organizational development, operational optimization, digital transformation, and strategic partnerships. This role focuses on enhancing efficiency, improving speed to market, and ensuring seamless execution in line with the company’s strategic objectives.
Key responsibilities include ensuring market synergy, delivering best practices and cost-effectiveness using financial modeling, business case development, tenders and procurement, and network modeling, and ensuring compliance with legal, process, and health and safety standards, all in alignment with the business strategic plan.
What You Will Do
Supply Chain Performance Management
- Full accountability for the end-to-end supply chain, ensuring operational excellence.
- Inbound Logistics: Oversee the entire logistics process from origin to final destination (R/DC), including the management of Non-Vessel Owning Carriers (NVOCs) and other transport providers.
- Outbound Logistics: Supervise the distribution network from R/DC to retail stores and e-commerce platforms, optimizing third-party logistics (3PL) partnerships to enhance performance and cost efficiency.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure timely registration of products with regulatory bodies, maintain an updated compliance database, and oversee product marketing execution.
Compliance & Risk Management
- Oversee central contract tracking and ensure alignment with legal and regulatory standards.
- Conduct group internal audits to uphold governance and compliance.
- Monitor costs centrally to ensure financial efficiency.
- Develop and manage strategic logistics partnerships while ensuring contractual compliance.
Desired candidate profile
- Align supply chain strategies with business objectives and future growth plans.
- Enhance e-commerce and digital capabilities, including DC fulfillment, last-mile logistics, and reverse flow management.
- Ensure seamless trade operations, prioritizing legal compliance and commercial viability in new and existing markets.
Strategic Partnership Development
- Collaborate on strategic roadmaps and execution plans to strengthen supply chain capabilities.
- Engage with key partners to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Establish strong performance management frameworks for supply chain contracts and execute tendering processes as needed.
Leadership & Talent Development
- Benchmark people KPIs with HR to enhance productivity and accountability.
- Set challenging yet achievable targets for the team, ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
- Provide coaching and mentorship to develop high-performing teams.
- Identify critical roles and implement succession planning to ensure business continuity.
Required Skills To Be Successful
- Strong familiarity with supply chain operations across Asia and MENA.
- Expertise in business case development, cost-benefit analysis, and strategic partner selection through tenders.
- Comprehensive understanding of end-to-end retail supply chain processes, including e-commerce and omnichannel logistics.
- Proven ability to manage international stakeholders at senior levels.
- Strong multitasking capabilities, with the ability to oversee multiple program streams effectively
What Equips You For The Role
Minimum Qualification and Knowledge
Education: Degree or similar professional degree from a university
Minimum Experience
- Minimum of 15 years in international retail supply chain management, with a total career span of 15-20 years.
- Demonstrated success in developing and managing supply chain transformations in MENA & Asia.
- Experience in business case development and organizational change management.
- Willingness to travel internationally and work flexible hours as required.
