Roles and responsibilities

The purpose of this role is to be able to diagnose medical illnesses and provide treatment with focus on the overall health of the patient including and not limited to physical, psychological and social aspects of care.

Provides comprehensive clinical care to patients according to current best-evidence based standards, using best judgement at all times and in accordance with Al-Futtaim Health Medical Staff bylaws and rules and regulations.

• Develop personal relationships with patients.
• Create patient-specific health programs that make use of historical data.
• Monitor and adapt individualized health programs over time.
• Make use of patient health data in medical analyses.
• Offer comprehensive wellness exams.
• Administering vaccinations.
• Perform medical operations.
• Educating patients in health management and disease prevention.
• Participates equitably in the on-call roster.
• Participates in the oversight and professional developments of any junior medical staff in the
• departments.
  

The Minimum Qualifications And Knowledge

• MBBS or MBchB or equivalent qualification from an accredited institution AND Completion of specialty qualification recognized by Dubai Health Authority or Health Authority of Abu Dhabi or Ministry of Health UAE.
• Fluent Mandarin speaker
• Appropriate experience and competence in all aspects of Family Medicine.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, doctors, nurses, and other clinical staff.
• Certification in Basic and Advanced Life Support
  

Minimum Experience

• Minimum 5+ years relevant experience at a specialist level, since gaining higher qualification.

1. Patient Care

• Comprehensive Health Assessments: Conducting physical exams and health screenings for patients of all ages, from newborns to elderly individuals.
• Diagnosis and Treatment: Diagnosing and treating a wide variety of conditions, including chronic diseases (like diabetes, hypertension), acute illnesses (like flu or infections), and minor injuries.
• Preventive Care: Promoting healthy lifestyle choices, providing vaccinations, performing routine screenings, and conducting regular check-ups to prevent illness and detect early signs of disease.
• Chronic Disease Management: Helping patients manage chronic conditions, like asthma, arthritis, and heart disease, through medication, lifestyle changes, and ongoing monitoring.

2. Health Education and Counseling

• Lifestyle Advice: Educating patients on maintaining a healthy lifestyle, including nutrition, exercise, smoking cessation, and stress management.
• Patient Counseling: Offering counseling on mental health, emotional well-being, and managing conditions like anxiety, depression, or substance abuse.
• Family Health Support: Providing advice and care for entire families, addressing pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric health concerns.

3. Coordination of Care

• Referrals to Specialists: When necessary, referring patients to specialists for more complex health issues or conditions that require specialized care (e.g., cardiologists, endocrinologists).
• Collaboration with Other Healthcare Providers: Working closely with other medical professionals, including nurses, therapists, and specialists, to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
• Follow-Up Care: Monitoring patients’ progress after treatments or surgeries, adjusting care plans as needed, and providing long-term management for ongoing conditions.

4. Emergency Care

• Acute Care: Providing emergency care for minor injuries, illnesses, or unexpected health crises until the patient can be referred to a hospital or specialist if necessary.
• Urgent Care: Managing urgent but non-life-threatening situations like minor cuts, sprains, or infections, and determining if more serious interventions are required.

5. Medical Records Management

• Accurate Documentation: Maintaining detailed and accurate medical records for each patient, including medical histories, diagnoses, treatments, and any follow-up care.
• Electronic Health Records (EHR): Utilizing EHR systems for managing patient information, ordering tests, and communicating with other healthcare professionals.

6. Family and Community Health

• Family-Oriented Care: Providing care to families and addressing health issues that may affect multiple generations, including pediatric care, maternal health, and geriatric health.
• Community Involvement: Engaging with the community through health outreach, awareness programs, and preventive health initiatives.

7. Medical Research and Continuous Education

• Staying Updated: Keeping up with the latest medical research, treatment protocols, and advances in family medicine to ensure that patients receive the most up-to-date care.
• Medical Education: Teaching and mentoring medical students or residents in family medicine practices, guiding them through practical patient care and clinical decision-making.
