Vehicle Technician

Roles and responsibilities

To deal with the inspection, diagnosing and repair of Electric Vehicles using advanced diagnostic tools to identify the source of problems and repair vehicles using Fix It Right process, to provide unique customer experience in order to improve customer retention in compliance with BYD standards.

What you will do:

• Diagnose complex system faults on Electric Vehicles, through to preventative maintenance
• Support, coach and guide other members of the team in the workshop by advising diagnosis procedures and efficient / correct work procedures
• Ensuring quality by producing extremely low level of return jobs
• Developing high level of communication by ensuring clear explanation of the work completed or required is well documented and clear to understand by Service Advisor, Technical Advisor, Technical Support and the Customer.
• Undertake great effort to improve efficiency by providing constructive inputs regarding work process, procedure, work environment, tools and equipment etc.
• Making safe electric vehicles to be worked on by junior technicians
• Provide technical input to spare parts staff to assist in correct part and tooling identification and supply
• Maintain safe working environment for anyone work on or near electric vehicles, working closely with HSSE and providing recommendations as required
  

Required skills to be successful:

• In depth knowledge and experience of EV components and systems both high and low voltage
• Master Technician certification or industry equivalent
• Able to support, coach and guide other members of the team in the workshop
• Up to date with the latest technology used in EV cars
  

About The Team:

The role will report to the Aftersales Manager and you will be working in a busy EV workshop environment.

What Equips You For The Role:

• 5-7 years’ experience as Diagnostic Technician, retail automotive experience.
• Valid UAE driving license

Desired candidate profile

1. Mechanical and Electrical Knowledge:

• Vehicle Systems: Understanding of engines, transmission, suspension, braking systems, exhaust systems, and electrical systems.
• Diagnostics: Ability to use diagnostic tools to identify issues with a vehicle's engine, transmission, and electrical systems.
• Electric/Electronic Systems: Knowledge of modern vehicles' electrical wiring, sensors, and computer-controlled systems.

2. Troubleshooting and Problem Solving:

• Ability to quickly diagnose and fix mechanical and electrical problems by using diagnostic equipment or by troubleshooting the vehicle manually.

3. Vehicle Repair:

• Expertise in repairing and replacing damaged or faulty components (e.g., engines, brakes, tires, steering, suspension).
• Working with hand tools, power tools, and specialized equipment to repair and replace parts.

4. Maintenance Skills:

• Regular vehicle maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, brake checks, and fluid replacements.
• Preventative maintenance to ensure vehicles run efficiently and safely.

5. Knowledge of Vehicle Brands and Models:

• Familiarity with different brands, makes, and models of vehicles to provide specialized repair and maintenance.

6. Customer Service:

• Ability to communicate effectively with customers, explaining problems and providing repair solutions.
• Offering maintenance advice or service recommendations to clients.
