Roles and responsibilities
As part of our Wet Services Infrastructure team, you'll support projects that involve designing, planning, and delivering water-related infrastructure such as drainage systems, water supply networks, and wastewater management solutions. You’ll work alongside experienced engineers and project managers, gaining valuable insights and developing skills to thrive in the civil engineering field.
Key Responsibilities
- Design Support: Assist in developing designs for water infrastructure systems, ensuring alignment with project specifications, sustainability goals, and local regulations.
- Data Analysis: Collect and analyze data related to water systems, system efficiency, and environmental impact to support project planning and optimization.
- Project Coordination: Collaborate with team members to track project milestones, prepare reports, and maintain accurate documentation.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support the team in communicating with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met effectively.

Qualifications
- Education: Pursuing a Civil Engineering Degree
- Graduation Date: Ideally a potential 2025 or 2026 graduate (or a 2024/2023 graduate looking for short-term work placement for experience).
- GPA: Applicants should have a minimum GPA of 2.8 (or equivalent) to be considered.
- Start Date: Dec 2024 / Jan 2025
- Duration : 1-3 months, depending on individual preferences.

Desired candidate profile
1. Site and Project Support
- Site Visits: Assisting with site visits to assess construction progress, perform inspections, and gather data on conditions.
- Surveying: Supporting surveying activities, including helping collect measurements and data for project planning and design.
- Construction Documentation: Assisting in preparing and maintaining construction documentation, such as daily reports, progress logs, and safety compliance records.
2. Design Assistance
- Design Software: Learning to use civil engineering design software such as AutoCAD, Revit, Civil 3D, or MicroStation to create drawings, models, and schematics for roads, bridges, buildings, and other infrastructure projects.
- Assisting with Structural Calculations: Supporting the design process by conducting basic structural calculations under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Blueprint and Specification Review: Assisting with reviewing construction blueprints and project specifications to ensure design requirements are met.
3. Project Coordination and Communication
- Collaboration with Team Members: Communicating with team members, including senior engineers, project managers, architects, and contractors, to gather information and update progress.
- Client Interaction: Observing interactions with clients, helping prepare reports, presentations, and project proposals, and learning how to handle client expectations and feedback.
- Coordination of Tasks: Learning the coordination of various tasks within the project timeline, such as material procurement, equipment management, and scheduling.
4. Technical Support
- Assisting in Calculations and Analysis: Learning to conduct basic engineering calculations related to load-bearing, material strength, and structural integrity.
- Quality Control: Supporting quality assurance and control efforts by checking materials, construction methods, and finished work against engineering standards.
- Environmental Compliance: Assisting in reviewing environmental standards, ensuring that projects comply with local regulations and environmental laws.
5. Construction Management
- Assisting in Cost Estimation: Helping estimate project costs, including materials, labor, and equipment, and learning about budgeting and financial tracking for civil engineering projects.
- Scheduling Support: Learning about project timelines and assisting in the preparation of schedules to ensure that work is completed on time and within budget.
- Health and Safety Oversight: Gaining an understanding of health and safety regulations, performing site safety checks, and ensuring that safety measures are adhered to on construction sites.
