Roles and responsibilities
Electrical Supervisor for Solar Projects is responsible for overseeing the installation, operation, and maintenance of solar power infrastructure projects & MEP. This includes managing teams involved in rooftop and carport solar panel installations, ensuring the integration of solar systems with low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, Lighting & small power for MEP works etc and adhering to safety and quality standards.
Key Accountabilities:
- Report to the Site Engineer for project schedules and requirements.
- Assign daily/weekly tasks to teams based on project milestones.
- Assist in preparing BOQ for materials (solar panels, inverters, MEP components).
- Ensure compliance with Solar and MEP drawings.
- Oversee solar panel installation, wiring, and connection to inverters.
- Supervise installation of lighting and MEP components.
- Ensure proper installation of combiner boxes, disconnects, and mounting structures.
- Manage integration of solar systems with LV electrical systems.
- Supervise foremen, technicians, and laborers.
- Conduct safety meetings and enforce safety regulations.
- Monitor material usage and coordinate with suppliers for timely deliveries.
- Ensure installations meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct site inspections and resolve quality issues with the Quality Control team.
- Submit daily progress reports and maintain documentation of materials, work, and workforce.
- Control material wastage and labor utilization.
- Allocate resources and resolve site disputes.
- Work in outdoor environments and at heights, with occasional travel to various sites.
Desired candidate profile
- Diploma/Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Knowledge of relevant safety regulations and industry standards for solar and electrical installations.
- Experience with preparing BOQs and managing project budgets is a plus.
Experience:
- 8-10 years of experience in supervision roles.
- At least 2-3 years as a Foreman.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Proficient in reading and interpreting solar panel installation drawings, electrical schematics, lighting & small power (MEP) & system layouts.
- Knowledge of solar panel installation terminologies such as PV modules, inverters, racking systems, and related components.
- Understanding of materials used in solar installations (e.g., panels, mounting systems, combiner boxes, fuses, disconnect switches, light fixtures, small power accessories).
- Experience with rooftop and carport installations, including structural assessments and roof penetration techniques.
- Strong understanding of low-voltage (LV) electrical systems, including wiring, circuit breakers, and safety disconnects.
