Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

. Customer Service

  • Greeting Guests: Welcoming guests to the restaurant, escorting them to their table, and presenting menus.
  • Taking Orders: Listening to guests’ orders, accurately recording their selections, and answering any questions about the menu or specials.
  • Serving Food and Beverages: Bringing food and drinks to the table in a timely and professional manner. Ensuring that orders are served correctly and that guests are satisfied.
  • Guest Interaction: Engaging with customers to ensure they are happy with their meals and addressing any concerns or requests they may have.
  • Upselling: Recommending additional menu items, drinks, or specials to enhance the dining experience and increase sales.
  • Handling Complaints: Addressing customer concerns or complaints promptly, offering solutions, or notifying management if necessary to ensure guest satisfaction.

2. Order Management and Accuracy

  • Order Entry: Accurately inputting orders into the point-of-sale (POS) system or relaying them to the kitchen staff.
  • Ensuring Accuracy: Double-checking orders to ensure that everything is correct and complete before serving to avoid mistakes.
  • Handling Special Requests: Accommodating special requests, such as dietary restrictions, allergies, or customizations, and ensuring the kitchen staff is informed.
  • Order Timing: Coordinating the timing of orders so that food is served at the right temperature and drinks are delivered promptly.

3. Maintaining Cleanliness and Organization

  • Table Setting: Ensuring that tables are clean, well-organized, and set with the appropriate utensils, napkins, and condiments.
  • Clearing Tables: Clearing empty plates, glasses, and silverware from tables after guests have finished their meals.
  • Cleaning Duties: Regularly cleaning and maintaining the dining area, including wiping down tables, chairs, and menus.
  • Restocking: Ensuring that service areas are stocked with necessary supplies, such as napkins, condiments, and glassware.

4. Cash Handling and Payment Processing

  • Bill Presentation: Presenting the bill to guests at the end of the meal and ensuring that they have a pleasant checkout experience.
  • Payment Processing: Accurately processing payments, including handling cash, credit cards, and tips.
  • Cash Register: Operating the cash register or POS system, ensuring all transactions are recorded correctly.

5. Collaboration with Other Staff

  • Working with the Kitchen: Communicating with kitchen staff to ensure that orders are prepared according to guest specifications and that food is delivered promptly.
  • Teamwork: Collaborating with other waitstaff and restaurant staff to provide smooth and efficient service. Assisting colleagues as needed to manage large parties or busy shifts.
  • Coordinating with Management: Keeping management informed of any issues, complaints, or special requests from guests.

Desired candidate profile

Every day is different, but you’ll mostly be:

  • Striving to make every meal truly memorable for our guests by serving up hight standards with our signature flare
  • Owning your kitchen keeping it well stocked and making sure it’s always a clean and safe place to work
  • Helping with washing up and other kitchen duties when the team needs you
  • Minimising waste and keeping your supervisor or duty manager in the loop about any unsafe equipment, low supplies, or safety incidents
  • Taking on ad-hoc duties to keep the service running smoothly

What We need from you:

  • The strength to lift, push and pull big objects up to 50lbs (23 kg) which can also involve bending and kneeling
  • A good grasp of reading, writing and basic maths
  • The flexibility to work night, weekend, and holiday shifts
  • Compliance with local laws on food handling and serving alcohol – you’ll need to be above the minimum age required and fluent in the local language
  • Great communication – you’ll be warm, welcoming, and easy to talk to
