Roles and responsibilities

Project Planning and Scheduling:
- Develop detailed project plans that outline tasks, timelines, resources, and milestones.
- Create and maintain schedules for projects, ensuring that all activities are completed on time.
- Coordinate with project managers, teams, and stakeholders to establish realistic timelines and deadlines.
- Use project management tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Primavera, or other scheduling software) to create Gantt charts, timelines, and progress reports.

Resource Allocation:
- Allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, based on project requirements.
- Monitor the availability and use of resources, ensuring efficient utilization.
- Identify resource constraints or shortages and make recommendations to address them.

Budget Management:
- Monitor project budgets and ensure that planning aligns with financial constraints.
- Track project costs, including labor, materials, and equipment, and ensure that they remain within the approved budget.
- Assist project managers in forecasting costs and budgeting for future activities.

Risk Management:
- Identify potential risks that could affect the timeline, budget, or quality of the project.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate risks and prepare for unforeseen challenges.
- Track risks throughout the project lifecycle and adjust plans as needed.

Collaboration and Coordination:
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to ensure that the planning process aligns with project goals.
- Coordinate between different departments or teams to ensure the timely availability of materials, resources, and personnel.
- Communicate effectively with teams to resolve issues, clarify expectations, and update stakeholders on project progress.

Progress Monitoring and Reporting:
- Track the progress of the project and ensure tasks are being completed as scheduled.
- Regularly update schedules and reports to reflect actual progress and any changes or delays.
- Provide status reports to project managers and stakeholders, highlighting completed tasks, ongoing activities, and potential delays.

Quality Control and Compliance:
- Ensure that all planning activities comply with industry standards, regulations, and client specifications.
- Monitor the quality of work and ensure that project goals are met without compromising quality.
- Identify areas for improvement in processes or workflows and suggest changes to enhance efficiency.

Document Control and Record Keeping:
- Maintain records of all project planning documents, including schedules, budgets, and contracts.
- Ensure that planning documentation is up-to-date and easily accessible for project teams and stakeholders.
- Prepare and organize reports for internal or external audits, if necessary.

Change Management:
- Handle any changes to the original project plan, such as scope alterations, resource changes, or unexpected delays.
- Assess the impact of changes on timelines, resources, and costs and adjust the plan accordingly.
- Ensure that changes are communicated to all relevant stakeholders and that any necessary approvals are obtained.
Desired candidate profile
• To create Work Break Down Structures suitable to the program of the Project
• Analyse Planning data as required to achieve time based and resource based schedule
• To maintain progress data on assigned Project and to prepare progress reports and Forecasting Systems of Projects.
• To produce the Project resource Plan as required.
• Monitor and update the Engineering deliverable and Trackers.
• Monitor and update the Procurement deliverables and Trackers
• Monitor and update the Construction schedule and Trackers
• Micro-plans and work schedules for key major activities
• To review the Subcontractors Planning and actual work progress.
Preferred Competencies:
- Engineering or Marine background.
- Computer Proficient
- Good working knowledge of Primavera (P6) and Microsoft Project planning software
- Good Working Experience as a Planner in major shipyard / Oil and Gas organization
- Good Working Knowledge of Overall Yard functioning and Resource allocations.
- Graduate / Diploma in Engineering Discipline
- Experience as a Planner in major shipyard / Oil and Gas organization with 3 to 8 Year experience.
