Roles and responsibilities

Electrical System Design
- Design electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, grounding, and wiring for new or renovated buildings, industrial plants, or infrastructure projects.
- Create detailed electrical layouts, one-line diagrams, and schematics using CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, or Electrical CAD).
- Select appropriate electrical components (e.g., transformers, circuit breakers, panels) based on project requirements, industry standards, and budget constraints.

Collaboration with Engineers and Stakeholders
- Work closely with electrical engineers to refine designs and ensure that all systems meet technical specifications.
- Collaborate with architects, mechanical engineers, and other design professionals to integrate electrical systems seamlessly into larger projects.
- Provide input and feedback during design reviews to ensure that the electrical design meets safety, operational, and regulatory requirements.

Code Compliance and Safety
- Ensure that electrical designs comply with relevant codes and regulations (e.g., National Electrical Code (NEC), IEEE, local building codes, OSHA regulations).
- Design electrical systems with safety in mind, ensuring proper grounding, protection against electrical hazards, and efficient energy use.
- Keep up to date with changes in electrical codes and standards, incorporating new requirements into future designs.

Load Calculations and System Sizing
- Perform load calculations to determine the appropriate size and capacity of electrical systems, circuits, and equipment.
- Ensure that electrical designs are balanced, with sufficient capacity to meet operational needs while avoiding overloading.
- Analyze energy requirements and design systems that optimize energy efficiency.

Construction Documentation and Support
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive electrical design documentation, including drawings, specifications, and material lists.
- Provide technical support during the construction phase, addressing any design issues that arise and ensuring that installation adheres to the design specifications.
- Assist in troubleshooting electrical system issues during installation and commissioning.

Design Optimization
- Optimize electrical designs to improve energy efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure long-term reliability.
- Recommend alternative solutions or materials to improve the overall performance or cost-effectiveness of the electrical system.

Project Coordination and Management
- Assist in project planning, providing timelines, budgets, and resource estimates for electrical systems.
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors to ensure that electrical components and systems are delivered and installed on schedule.

Continuous Learning and Innovation
- Stay current with new technologies and trends in electrical design, including smart building systems, renewable energy integration, and automation.
- Participate in professional development activities and certifications to stay up-to-date with industry standards.
Desired candidate profile
Core Designer Role to produce the volume of Design Drawings on projects and within the business as required.
Qualifications
- Engineering Diploma (Preferable)
Essential
Knowledge / Experience (Skills):
- 7 - 12 years of Oil & Gas Design Experience.
Advantage
- Previous experience in Region
- Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a Lead Designer
Technical Knowledge And Skills (Discipline Specific)
- Knowledge of basic engineering processes
- Familiarity with international codes, standards and engineering practices
- Ability to independently originate and check Electrical design drawings with minimal input from engineers.
- Knowledge in engineering Data Base related with Electrical discipline
- Familiarity with SLDs and Cable Routing
