Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and analysis of gravity hydraulics systems in water treatment works.
- Develop innovative solutions for optimizing gravity-based water distribution and treatment processes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate hydraulics principles into projects.
- Utilize your technical acumen to provide effective solutions for complex hydraulics challenges.
- Lead project meetings and foster effective client relationships.
- Supervise and mentor junior engineers, ensuring delivery standards are met.
- Contribute to proposal development and client engagement.
Requirements:
- Educational Background: A bachelor's or master’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- Professional experience: A minimum of 8 years of experience in Mechanical engineering, with a focus on designing hydraulic systems including drainage, water supply & firefighting for various applications and a Proven track record of successfully completed hydraulic engineering projects.
- Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software and tools including Revit, Autocad & Elite softwares.
- In-depth knowledge of fluid mechanics, pipe flow, pump selection, and hydraulic system design.
- Familiarity with stormwater management, water distribution systems, and wastewater systems.
- Knowledge of local and international codes and standards related to hydraulic engineering for both Dubai and Abu Dhabi
- Experience in water treatment works and a deep understanding of gravity hydraulics principles.
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative work approach.
- Knowledge of engineering principles, technical drawings, and planning data.
- Chartered or equivalent qualification in relevant discipline.
Desired candidate profile
1. Technical Expertise in Plumbing Systems
- Plumbing System Design: Expertise in designing and developing plumbing systems for water distribution, drainage, stormwater management, sanitary systems, and gas systems in buildings.
- Hydraulic Calculations: Knowledge of pressure and flow calculations for water distribution, sizing pipes, and determining system capacity.
- Water Supply and Distribution: Proficiency in designing systems for potable water supply, hot and cold-water distribution, and systems for water conservation (e.g., greywater reuse, rainwater harvesting).
- Sanitary and Drainage Systems: Designing systems to manage wastewater, including sewage, stormwater, and industrial waste, and ensuring compliance with codes and regulations.
- Gas Systems: Designing natural gas or LPG distribution systems for heating, cooking, and other applications.
- Fire Protection Systems: Knowledge of plumbing systems involved in fire suppression, such as sprinklers, hydrants, and standpipes.
- Sustainability and Water Efficiency: Focus on sustainable plumbing practices, energy-efficient systems, and water conservation technologies like low-flow fixtures and rainwater harvesting.
2. Code Compliance and Regulatory Knowledge
- Plumbing Codes and Standards: Deep knowledge of national and international plumbing codes (e.g., IPC, UPC, BS 6700, AS/NZS 3500) and standards such as local regulations, environmental laws, and safety codes.
- Health and Safety Regulations: Understanding the health and safety regulations associated with plumbing systems, including cross-connection control, backflow prevention, and compliance with building codes.
- Permits and Inspections: Ensuring that plumbing systems comply with local, state, and federal regulations and that necessary permits are obtained. Overseeing inspections and approvals.
3. Design and Drafting Software Proficiency
- AutoCAD and Revit: Proficient in creating plumbing layouts, schematics, and 3D models using AutoCAD, Revit, or similar BIM (Building Information Modeling) software.
- Hydraulic Design Software: Familiar with design tools and software for hydraulic calculations and modeling (e.g., H2Ocalc, PipeFlow, or similar systems).
- BIM Integration: Experience with integrating plumbing designs into the broader BIM model, collaborating with structural, electrical, and mechanical engineers for seamless integration.
4. Project Management and Coordination
- Project Planning and Scheduling: Strong project management skills to plan, organize, and oversee the installation of plumbing systems, ensuring that all deadlines are met.
- Team Leadership: Supervising junior engineers, plumbers, and contractors, providing guidance and support on technical and safety issues.
- Resource Allocation and Budgeting: Managing resources, budgeting, and cost estimation for plumbing system installations, ensuring projects are delivered within financial constraints.
- Vendor and Subcontractor Coordination: Managing relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring that the right materials are sourced, and that contractors meet performance and safety standards.
5. Problem-Solving and Troubleshooting
- System Analysis: Analyzing plumbing system designs for inefficiencies or issues, identifying problems, and proposing innovative solutions.
- On-Site Troubleshooting: Providing technical support during installation or commissioning, solving unexpected problems related to plumbing systems.
6. Sustainability and Innovation
- Sustainable Design Practices: Knowledge of energy-efficient plumbing systems, including water-saving devices, renewable energy integration (e.g., solar water heating), and systems for reducing carbon footprints.
- Innovative Technologies: Keeping up-to-date with new technologies in plumbing design, such as smart plumbing systems, greywater recycling, and advanced leak detection systems.
7. Communication and Client Interaction
- Client Engagement: Communicating with clients to understand their needs, explaining design concepts, and providing technical advice on plumbing issues.
- Documentation and Reporting: Preparing clear, concise technical documentation, including plumbing drawings, specifications, and reports for clients, regulatory bodies, and contractors.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Coordinating with architects, structural engineers, mechanical engineers, and construction teams to ensure plumbing systems integrate seamlessly into the overall project design.
