Roles and responsibilities
- Set up stations and tables according to set standards.
- Greet the guest according to the standards set by Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi
- Communicate with the guest according to the standards set by Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi
- Assist the captain in presenting the menu, making recommendations, and taking orders
- Serving food and beverage items and ensuring prompt service
- Follow up on billing and checking procedures
- Ensure that the buffet is kept clean and free of debris
- Coordinate and assist in the clearing of tables
- Coordinate and assist in the clearing of station
- Coordinate and supervise the return of dirty linen
- Assist the kitchen in clearing the buffet
- To be present in the restaurant during service hours
- Ensure that the captain is kept informed of all guest comments and complaints
- Attend communication meetings, briefings, and training sessions as required by the restaurant manager, training manager, and food and beverage manager
- To keep uniform neat and clean and ensure good personal grooming and hygiene in accordance with the standards of Emirates Palace Mandarin Oriental, Abu Dhabi
- Any other duties, which may be assigned to you from time to time as directed by your Supervisor or Manager
Skills And Requirements
- Certification or Diploma in Hospitality Management is preferred
- Previous Standalone restaurant experience is preferred. Resort experience will be a plus.
- Passionate about guest service with an engaging personality

- Multitasking: Manage several tables at once and juggle multiple tasks, including taking orders, delivering food, and handling payment.
3. Knowledge of Menu & Specials
- Menu Familiarity: Have an in-depth knowledge of the menu, including ingredients, preparation methods, and possible allergens.
- Specials & Pairings: Be familiar with daily specials, wine pairings, and be able to make recommendations based on guest preferences.
- Dietary Restrictions: Understand common dietary restrictions (e.g., gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan) and be able to advise guests accordingly.
4. Product Knowledge
- Wine & Beverage Expertise: Have knowledge of wines, cocktails, and other beverages to assist with pairings and recommendations.
- Food Presentation: Understand the importance of how food is presented and served, ensuring it’s appealing and consistent with the restaurant’s standards.
5. Time Management
- Efficient Service: Prioritize tasks effectively, ensuring all guests are attended to promptly without feeling rushed.
- Table Turnover: Manage the pacing of a meal to ensure timely service while also maintaining a pleasant, unhurried atmosphere.
- Organized: Keep track of multiple orders and needs without confusion, ensuring everything runs smoothly.
6. Teamwork & Collaboration
- Cooperation with Colleagues: Work closely with kitchen staff, hosts, and other waitstaff to ensure an efficient and smooth operation.
- Supporting Others: Help colleagues during busy times or when they are overwhelmed to maintain a high level of service.
- Flexibility: Adapt to changes in shifts, requests, or seating arrangements as necessary to accommodate guest needs and restaurant operations.
