Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

We are looking for a versatile Creative Technology Specialist, with a strong focus on Videography and Livestreaming, to join our team at The Dubai Experience Centre. This role requires not only expertise in videography and live event production but also a broader understanding of multi-disciplinary technical operations. The ideal candidate will be proficient with Sony A7sIII Cameras, Blackmagic hardware, livestreaming software like OBS and vMix.

In addition to videography, the candidate should have a solid grasp of post production tools such as Adobe programs. Also needs to be proficient in audio systems and event tech systems to ensure comprehensive support across our wide range of events. Proficiency in collaboration systems, such as Microsoft Teams, Google Meet, Cisco Meeting rooms & other video call systems is essential for coordinating and facilitating hybrid or virtual event setups. This includes technical coverage and support for multiple event spaces and meeting rooms within The Experience Centre, ensuring seamless execution during simultaneous events. The role demands flexibility and teamwork, with the ability to pivot between creative and technical tasks, ensuring all events are delivered to the highest standard.

A Videography Specialist is a professional responsible for capturing, editing, and producing video content for a variety of purposes, including marketing, corporate communications, educational content, and entertainment. This role combines creative and technical skills to deliver high-quality video productions, often working with other team members such as directors, producers, and clients to bring a vision to life.

Key Skills for a Videography Specialist

1. Videography and Camera Operation

  • Camera Equipment: Expertise in using various types of cameras (DSLRs, mirrorless, professional camcorders, drones, etc.) and understanding their features, including settings for exposure, white balance, and focus.
  • Lighting Techniques: Knowledge of lighting equipment (e.g., key lights, fill lights, backlights) and techniques to create the right mood and ambiance in video shoots.
  • Framing & Composition: Strong understanding of shot composition, framing, and camera angles to create visually compelling and engaging content.
  • Audio Capture: Ability to set up and use microphones (lavaliers, shotgun mics, etc.) and audio equipment to ensure clear sound quality, especially when recording interviews or dialogues.

2. Video Editing

  • Video Editing Software: Proficiency in industry-standard video editing software such as Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Avid Media Composer to edit raw footage into polished, professional video.
  • Post-Production Skills: Expertise in color correction, sound mixing, and adding visual effects or motion graphics to enhance the video.
  • Storytelling: Ability to edit videos to create a narrative, ensuring that the story flows cohesively and engages the intended audience.
  • Speed and Efficiency: The ability to work quickly and efficiently, especially when there are tight deadlines or large volumes of content to produce.

3. Creative Vision and Direction

  • Storyboarding and Pre-Production Planning: Ability to visualize and plan shots and sequences in advance to ensure the video meets the desired goals and narrative. This includes creating storyboards and shot lists.
  • Conceptualization: Ability to contribute creative ideas for video content that align with the client’s or company’s goals, whether it’s brand promotion, training, or entertainment.
  • Visual Aesthetics: A good eye for design, composition, and color to ensure that each video is visually compelling and aligns with the brand or project goals.

4. Technical Knowledge

  • File Management: Expertise in handling large video files, organizing footage, and maintaining proper file structures, particularly for complex, multi-camera shoots.
  • Encoding and Compression: Knowledge of video file formats, codecs, and how to optimize videos for various platforms, such as social media, YouTube, or websites.
  • Understanding of Aspect Ratios and Resolution: Knowing how to shoot and edit content in the correct resolution (4K, HD) and aspect ratios (16:9, 4:3) depending on the final distribution format.
  • Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with emerging video technology such as 360-degree video, VR filming, and drones for aerial shots.

5. Project Management and Communication

  • Collaboration: Ability to work effectively with directors, producers, clients, and other creatives to ensure the vision and requirements of the video project are met.
  • Time Management: Managing multiple video projects, ensuring deadlines are met while maintaining high production standards.
  • Client Communication: Interfacing with clients to understand their video needs and making adjustments based on feedback.

6. Problem Solving and Adaptability

  • Troubleshooting: Quick thinking on set to resolve technical or logistical issues (e.g., camera malfunctions, lighting issues) to keep the production running smoothly.
  • Adaptability: Ability to adjust to different environments, whether shooting indoors, outdoors, in a studio, or on location, and adapting to varying conditions.
