Senior Piping Engineer

Roles and responsibilities

• Reporting to the Lead Piping Engineer, the candidate will assume sole responsibility for assigned piping engineering work scopes.
• To carry out Piping discipline work within a project team, supporting the project team for field development of oil & gas production facilities.
• To plan, budget, organize, and control a segment of the Piping engineering deliverables for the project.
• To prepare Piping deliverables for a project in the oil and gas industry, and ensure that they conform to all applicable engineering codes and standards as well as the Client’s policies and procedures.
• To ensure that all work is completed without compromise to quality and is delivered according to the project schedule.
• To provide direction and guidance on all piping engineering technical queries raised by either internal or external parties.
• To liaise with the Client’s Engineering, Operations and Maintenance staff as required to ensure a consistent approach to project completion.
• To promote safe behaviour at all times.
• To provide sound technical advice and solutions to a diversity of technical problems within the discipline.
• To co-ordinate with other disciplines during all stages of design development, construction, pre-commissioning, and start-up.
• To assist in the coordination of all activities related to piping engineering design.
• To identify any areas of concern with respect to progress and/or quality and recommend corrective actions as required.
  

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry.
• Minimum of 10 years’ proven capability in an engineering design company in Piping Design
• Operational support / construction and commissioning experience.
• Experience of working with multi-national and multi-cultural project teams is strongly preferred.
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East / Iraq would be an advantage.

Desired candidate profile

• Piping Design Expertise: Extensive knowledge of piping design principles, materials, and construction methods, including relevant codes and standards (e.g., ASME, API).

• 3D Modeling Proficiency: Skilled in using design software (e.g., AutoCAD, PDMS, or Plant 3D) for creating detailed piping layouts, isometrics, and supporting structures.

• Stress Analysis: Ability to perform piping stress analysis using software tools (e.g., CAESAR II) to ensure the integrity and safety of piping systems under various conditions.

• Project Management: Strong project management skills to oversee piping projects, including planning, scheduling, and resource allocation.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with industry regulations, safety standards, and best practices related to piping systems and materials.

• Collaboration Skills: Experience working closely with multidisciplinary teams, including mechanical, civil, and electrical engineers, to ensure design integration and project success.

• Problem-Solving Abilities: Strong analytical skills to identify design challenges and develop effective solutions throughout the project lifecycle.

• Documentation Skills: Proficiency in preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and design calculations.

• Quality Assurance: Understanding of quality control processes to ensure that designs meet industry standards and specifications.

• Mentorship: Ability to mentor and guide junior engineers and designers, fostering professional development and enhancing team capabilities.
