Civil Designer

Roles and responsibilities

• Specialist Designer in Design & Detailing of Civil & Structural works of Oil and Gas projects
• Must have hands-on experience in Concrete, Structural steel, Underground drainage & Layout drawing preparation for EPC and FEED projects
• Modelling experience in SP3D and experience in Navisworks / SPR / E3D / PDS / PDMS platform is must
• Knowledge in specification and design basis
• Ensure that works comply with the American codes and Standards
• Experience on preparation of MTO through XL spread sheet will be a plus point
• Be responsible for assessing effectiveness of working practices and systems with a view to continuously improving systems, personal and team performance
• Carry out work in accordance with Wood and project Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality Systems
• Maintain the required technical quality of work
• Identify scope and schedule changes in accordance with the Change Control Process
• Maintain planning on all work scopes
• Provide technical assistance to discipline assigned personnel as required
• Ensure, as far as practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed schedule
• Keep up to date with technical developments
• Review, prepare, check work output of discipline assigned personnel
• Prepare estimates and assist in their review
• Maintain good communication with the team and client
• Maintain discipline filing system
• Encourage and provide lateral learning within the project
  

Qualifications

• Minimum Diploma Engineering in civil / structural or ITI
• Minimum 9 years post graduate experience
• Minimum 6 years’ experience in the oil and gas industry
• Minimum 4 years’ experience in the designation
• Modelling experience in SP3D and experience in Navisworks / SPR / E3D / PDS / PDMS platform is must

Desired candidate profile

• Technical Design Skills: Proficiency in structural design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit, STAAD Pro) for creating detailed structural drawings and models.

• Engineering Principles: Strong understanding of civil and structural engineering principles, including load analysis, materials science, and design codes.

• Project Management: Ability to manage multiple projects, ensuring they are completed on time and within budget.

• Collaboration: Experience working closely with architects, engineers, and construction teams to ensure cohesive project development.

• Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant building codes, safety standards, and zoning regulations.

• Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills to address design challenges and provide effective solutions.

• Quality Assurance: Knowledge of quality control processes to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.

• Communication Skills: Effective verbal and written communication for presenting designs and collaborating with stakeholders.

• Mentorship: Ability to guide and mentor junior designers and engineers.

• Sustainability: Awareness of sustainable design practices and materials to enhance environmental performance.
