Job Description

Roles and responsibilities

Successful candidates will need to:

  • Hold a BEd or Bachelors degree with PGCE / PGDE or equivalent
  • Have proven experience of teaching SEN to Primary students
  • Have the ability to share exemplary teaching practices.

  • Possess excellent interpersonal skills to work closely with colleagues, students and parents
  • Have a proven track record of providing outstanding learning & teaching

Special Educational Needs (SEN) teachers play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs. Here are some essential skills and qualities for effective SEN teachers:

  1. Understanding of SEN: In-depth knowledge of various special educational needs, including autism spectrum disorders, dyslexia, ADHD, and emotional and behavioral difficulties.

  2. Differentiated Instruction: Ability to design and implement tailored lesson plans that accommodate individual learning styles and needs.

  3. Assessment Skills: Proficiency in assessing student abilities and progress, using various methods to create effective intervention strategies.

  4. Patience and Empathy: A compassionate approach to understanding the challenges faced by students, providing emotional and academic support.

  10. Continuous Learning: A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying informed about best practices and new research in special education.
