Job Description

We are currently looking for a renowned hospital for Consultant Histopathology / Anatomic Pathology for the Dubai location.

The histopathology/ anatomic pathology department will be receiving tissue samples with a wide and interesting range of biopsy material surgical excision and cytology specimens submitted for examination. There is a welldeveloped immunohistochemistry service to support the diagnostic process.

We are seeking to recruit a consultant in histopathology/ anatomic pathology to meet the needs for general pathology and cytopathology services. The Consultant will provide a highquality diagnostic histopathology service. In addition there is teaching and supervision of junior medical and paramedical staff both visiting and permanent. It is expected that the post holder will participate in management and service planning and play a role in ensuring ongoing accreditation of the department. Supporting professional activities include teaching MDT CPD audit and research.

In this role you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Performing supervising and evaluating macroscopic dissection of surgical pathology specimens
  • Generating reports on diagnostic cases
  • Referring cases externally for opinions and ancillary investigations as needed and integrating the information received with the original diagnostic report
  • Communicating with patientfacing and other colleagues as need arises
  • Attending relevant multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings including preparation and followup
  • Contributing to and undertake external quality assurance/ proficiency testing schemes and relevant clinical audits as needed
  • Undertaking relevant CPD and similar activities as they arise
  • Maintaining knowledge of current practice by reading courses etc
  • Working with the laboratory manager to deliver and improve the service
  • Engaging with service users to bring business to the department
  • Participating in service improvement projects
  • Complying at all times with departmental and institutional health and safety policies
  • Complying at all times with departmental and institutional data security policies
  • Participating in the department s monthly management meetings
  • Taking own responsibility for the daytoday management of his/her clinical sessions and must ensure that services are covered during planned absences
  • Undertaking additional tasks assigned by the line manager/ division chief as and when required


Requirements

To be considered you need to meet the following requirements:


Qualifications:
  • MBBS/MB ChB or equivalent.
  • FRCPath / American board/ Canadian board/ Australian board/ South African board or evidence of equivalent qualification (Tier 1).
  • Full registration (and a license to practice) as a consultant (or eligible for registration within six months of interview).
  • 5 Years Experience in the same capacity.
  • Applicants must holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and users of the service
  • Experience of supervision of trainees
  • Ability to lead the development of services and provoke best practice amongst the colleagues in a changing environment
  • Ability to work in a team with professional colleagues both medical and non medical
  • Ability to keep up to date in the specialty
  • Experience:
    • Required experience in a wide range of histopathology/ anatomic pathology including general surgical pathology cytopathology
    • Preferred to have a fellowship training in any subspecialty such as neuropathology transplant pathology molecular pathology renal pathology or pediatric pathology
    • Thorough understanding of the principles of medical audit
    • Evidence of undergraduate and/ or postgraduate teaching
    • Awareness of basic research methods
    • Familiarity with evidencebased practice
    • 5 Years Experience in the same capacity
    • With Clinical and Academic Experience in a known University Hospital

    Critical Competencies:

    • Ability to take responsibility for delivering service without direct supervision
    • Thorough and broad knowledge training and experience in a wide range of Histopathology and Cytopathology
