Key Accountabilities:
Air Power Systems Development:
- Inspect, design, calibrate, repair and maintain electronic, hydraulic and pneumatic instrumentation and control devices, including various types of flow, pressure, temperature and level instruments.
- Coordinate and maintain a preventative maintenance schedule according to standards specified by the manufacturer of the instruments.
- Repair control panels and other related fixtures as required as well as interpret blueprints, diagrams and schematics.
- Evaluate new instruments for future applications.
- Write technical memo’s, work packages and detailed reports for components, systems and manufacturing processes.
- Ensure the safety of test articles, equipment, engines and other unrelated equipment as well as to ensure the safety of personnel, working in and around the test articles.
- Undertake design and support work throughout the life-cycle of the system under development, for all phases of conceptual design, preliminary design, detail design and development, manufacture, production, end-use support and phase-out/disposal
- Perform precise calculations using theoretical methods as well as computational simulations
Project Management:
- Work with suppliers to produce high precision and quality designed components within the schedule of the project.
Innovation and Technology Advancement:
- Revise designs based on the latest technology in manufacturing and material science.
- Optimization of designed parts for manufacturability using innovative approaches to design
Collaboration and Communication:
- Mentor and coach lower level engineers in related disciplines.
Compliance and Documentation:
- Establish test specifications and procedures to ensure that all design requirements are met
Experience & Education Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field. A master's degree is preferred in the field of turbomachinery design, small or micro turbine testing or other gas turbine/thermal power applications.
- A minimum of 5 years’ of relevant experience is necessary in a gas turbine engine test environment.
- Experience operating test equipment in a jet engine test cell, with a focus on data acquisition systems for gas turbines.
- Proven technical competence, including managing multidisciplinary requirements specifications within the gas turbine engine.
- Strong technical knowledge of air power systems, including aircraft integration, propulsion, avionics, and mission systems.
- Familiarity with military and defense industry standards, regulations, and customer requirements.
- Ability to contribute to and write technical proposals development.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a track record of delivering high-quality results in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to precision-guided munition air power systems.
