Safety Specialist SkyCargo Operations - The Emirates Group

Job Purpose JOB PURPOSE Manage the overall risk management and hazard identification of the SkyCargo operations both at Hub Operations and network outstations by conducting station assessments and thoroughly reviewing the existing potential and emerging risks Analyze station functions ground service providers capabilities including facilities and equipment and commodities being handled and evaluating them against regulatory requirements standard operating procedures and industry best/safe practices thereby developing control measures and mitigatory measures where identified essential JOB ACCOUNTABILITIES LINKED TO OBJECTIVE AREAS Conduct and complete change management processes and associated risk assessments and technical evaluations for all major operational changes including procedure changes facility changes new station start up GHA/GSP changes export adhoc flight operations to offline stations etc Evaluate risks associated with the change being introduced/proposed and provide insights into feasibility as well as recommend course of actions where possible Manage and maintain station safety/risk profile data of all network stations at a single repository and periodically share high risk emerging risk and low risk details to the Senior Management Ensure risk register reviews are performed for all stations on a biannual basis developing control measures and monitoring mitigatory processes in liaison with respective Cargo Manager at the station Liaise with the operations departments to ensure their timely response to the collection of the Documentation and information related to risk assessment and hazard analysis Collect share and review with the Manager Cargo Standards & Operational Safety the responses received from the network outstations related to their relevant risk profiles and the recommended mitigation and preventive actions Propose recommendations based on industry best practices to the network operations outstations following an accident investigation and discuss their effectiveness with the Manager Cargo Standards & Operational Safety Communicate to the line operations departments the recommended actions proposed following a safety investigation and monitor the implementation progress Provide expert advice (including best practices) to the Safety Promotions team to develop safety awareness training Participate in safety campaigns with the Safety Promotions team to increase safety awareness Provide feedback on the implementation efficiency of the SMS (Safety Management System) within the operations departments including the monitor of the reporting processes among the operations departments and third party/ contracted companies Conduct indepth analysis of safety/risk/hazard data and present statistical summaries to the Manager Cargo Standards & Operational Safety highlighting significant trends and occurrences Act as a delegate of the Manager Cargo Standards & Operational Safety in Senior Management meetings as and when needed Provide assistance and guidance to the network outstations operations departments to identify and assess the hazards present in their stations/regions including all ground service providers at these stations Develop hazard prevention plans to assist in the achievement of their safety targets Maintain up to date knowledge on safety/risk/hazard identification critical procedures and undergo specialized training as needed to ensure effective support and recommendations are provided to operations management Support the Cargo Conformance and Ground Safety department with safety investigations and identify root cause systemic safety hazards and deficiencies to both air and ground operations and provide recommendations to prevent future occurrences and enhance operational safety
Qualifications & Experience MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS Qualifications Degree or Honours ( or equivalent) Experience Medical/Safety/Ground Safety Years Knowledge/Skills Require qualification related to a safety investigation role or equivalent specialised professional qualifications such as an Aircraft Accident Investigator qualification Require aviation industry experience including carrying out safety investigations and demonstrating strong technical report writing skills Familiar with modern safety management systems safety databases systemic investigation techniques human factors and risk management Knowledge of airline management modern aircraft operation and associated technology particularly ground operations flying operations cabin operations engineering / maintenance ATC airport systems human factors/psychology as appropriate to the role and business requirements Leadership Role No Safety Sensitive Role Yes Details of Safety Sensitive role Working at height Yes Exposure to hazardous energy systems Yes Heavy lifting No Working in areas with motorised mobile equipment Yes Work in confined spaces Yes Contact with contaminations materials (Humans/Animals/Chemicals) Yes Contact with dangerous good Yes Work in an extremely noisy environment Yes Work in heat Yes Working with pressurised substances No Exposure to fixed protruding sharp objects No Exposure to contact with moving/falling objects Yes Airport driving permit No Driving a vibrating equipment No
