BIM Team Lead

Job Summary

Run the project team day to day and deliver its models and drawings. The role is the working link between the BIM supervisor who carries the accountability for the group and the technicians who produce the work. It is responsible across almost the whole delivery and deliverables scope and directly accountable for the interface with the design engineers for progress reporting and for the drawing quality check.

What role is accountable for

• The work interfaces with the discipline design engineers on the teams scope.
• The project progress position was reported to the BIM supervisor.
• Cut sheets drawing binding and the drawing quality control self-check before the set moves on.

Delivery

• Deliver the teams models and drawings against the task information delivery plan and feed the master plan.
• Set up and maintain data shortcuts base plans and title block milestone requirements for the teams scope.
• Supervise model development across the team in wet utilities dry utilities MEICA or smart technology depending on the teams discipline.
• Apply the design automation tools the group has implemented and report defects in them.
• Maintain the single source of truth for the 2D extraction of the teams drawings.

Checking and reviewing

• Validate discipline model submissions against the model checklist and GIS data against the GIS checklist.
• Apply the drawing checklist and CAD standard compliance check to the teams output.
• Carry out the final drawing sanity check before issuing discipline or interdisciplinary review.
• Handle document comments and resolution for both drawings and models and close them out.

Clash and coordination

• Carry out the clash resolution activity for the teams models and agree on responsibility for each fix.
• Ensure interfaces and tie-ins on the teams scope are coordinated with the neighbouring disciplines.
• Attend production progress and discipline coordination meetings.

People

• Deliver internal training to the team on the authoring tools the common data environment and the standards and processes.
• Mentor senior technicians and technicians set objectives and raise training needs.
• Capture lessons learned from the teams projects.

Qualifications :

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering Architecture Geomatics or a related discipline.
• 8 years in infrastructure design production of which at least 3 years in leading or modelling or drafting team in a consultancy.
• Proven delivery of drawing packages to a local authority standard in the UAE or Saudi Arabia.
• Fluent written and spoken English.

Technical requirements

• Civil 3D to an expert level: pipe and pressure networks corridors surfaces data shortcuts styles label sets and sheet sets.
• AutoCAD and Navisworks for reviewing and resolving clashes.
• Autodesk Construction Cloud or BIM 360 as a working environment including coordination spaces.
• Bluebeam Revu for markup and review.
• Familiarity with design automation tooling and with Dynamo or scripting is an advantage.
