Science Laboratory Technician and Learning Support Assistant

Roles & Responsibilities:

• To ensure safe working practices at all timesand keep up to date regarding Health & Safety
• Liaising with academic staff to discusspractical investigations and equipment requirements
• Ensuring that laboratories are set up readyfor practical lessons
• Ensuring DT equipment is safely stored
• To assist learning across the curriculum inKS3.
• Trialing investigations prior to lessons anddemonstrating techniques to teachers and students
• Maintenance and repair of equipment andlaboratory apparatus
• Record keeping, e.g. stock levels andequipment maintenance
• Ensuring that equipment is properly cleaned,and that chemicals and other materials are appropriately stored anddisposed off
• Supporting the work of teachers and providingtechnical advice to teachers and students
• working with individual students and supportingthem on research projects
• Managing the stock control of chemicals andequipment
• Ensuring that all health and safety proceduresare in place and adhered to
• Coordinating work in the laboratory to ensureefficient use is made of equipment
