We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Instrumentation Engineer to join our team in Dubai UAE to support the design and of a largescale onshore oil and gas project in the Middle East. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in instrumentation engineering within the oil and gas industry particularly in the areas of Detailed Engineering system design integration and installation of instrumentation systems critical to the operation of oil and gas facilities. The Senior Instrumentation Engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all instrumentation systems are designed installed and tested in line with project requirements industry standards and safety regulations.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the design and engineering of instrumentation systems including process control systems safety instrumented systems (SIS) measurement and control instrumentation and other critical systems for oil and gas facilities.
- Develop and review detailed engineering documentation such as datasheets control system designs P&IDs (Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams) instrumentation layouts and specifications.
- Perform instrumentation sizing specification and selection ensuring compliance with industry codes and standards (e.g. ISA IEC API ANSI).
- Collaborate with other engineering disciplines (mechanical electrical civil and telecom) to ensure seamless integration of instrumentation systems into the overall project design.
- Support the procurement process for instrumentation and control systems ensuring specifications meet project requirements and procurement schedules.
- Review and approve vendor documentation for instrumentation systems ensuring compliance with technical specifications quality standards and project requirements.
- Provide technical support during installation commissioning and startup ensuring all instrumentation systems meet performance criteria and project requirements.
- Oversee the calibration and testing of instrumentation systems to verify proper functionality and performance.
- Ensure instrumentation systems comply with safety regulations including the application of HAZOP (Hazard and Operability) studies risk assessments and safety instrumented systems (SIS) design.
- Troubleshoot and resolve instrumentationrelated technical issues during project and operations.
- Provide input into the maintenance strategy for instrumentation systems to ensure longterm reliability and performance.
- Deliver training and guidance to junior engineers and project teams on instrumentation system design installation and operation.
- Ensure all instrumentation systems are designed for reliability scalability and future upgrades aligning with best practices and innovative solutions in the oil and gas sector.
- Maintain effective communication with project management and stakeholders providing regular reports and updates on the progress of instrumentation design and implementation.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelors degree in Instrumentation Engineering Electrical Engineering or a related field (Masters degree preferred).
- 1015 years of experience in instrumentation engineering within the oil and gas industry with a focus on onshore projects.
- Extensive experience in detailed engineering design for instrumentation systems including control systems safety systems and measurement instrumentation.
- Strong knowledge of instrumentation standards and codes such as ISA IEC API and ANSI and their application in oil and gas environments.
- Proficient in instrumentation design software (AutoCAD SmartPlant or similar) and control system design tools.
- Handson experience in calibration testing and troubleshooting of instrumentation systems in the field.
- Strong experience with control systems distributed control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLC).
- Fluent in English both written and spoken; knowledge of Arabic is a plus.
- Strong analytical and problemsolving skills with a focus on optimizing instrumentation system performance and efficiency.
- Ability to work in a team environment and coordinate across various engineering disciplines.
- Excellent communication skills both technical and interpersonal with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to nontechnical stakeholders.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively under tight project deadlines.
- Indepth knowledge of safety instrumented systems (SIS) and safety standards in the oil and gas industry.
- Experience in the Middle East is highly desirable particularly in onshore oil and gas projects.
