Job Title: Spanish and English Language Teacher (Secondary)

Position Overview:

As a Spanish and English Language Teacher at The Spanish School of Abu Dhabi you will create a dynamic and inclusive learning environment for secondary students. You will play a crucial role in fostering their linguistic social and emotional development within our multicultural setting. We seek educators who can implement a studentcentered learning approach maintain high academic standards and utilize creative teaching methodologies. This role requires proficiency and certification to teach both Spanish and English.

Responsibilities:
  1. Inclusive classroom environment: create a welcoming classroom that promotes a sense of belonging for students from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  2. Curriculum development: develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with the Spanish curriculum tailored to meet the needs of students with varying abilities and language proficiency.
  3. Interactive teaching: Foster a love for learning by incorporating creative and active teaching methodologies to make lessons interactive handson and enjoyable.
  4. Clear learning objectives: establish and communicate clear learning objectives to students ensuring they understand academic and behavioral expectations.
  5. Individualized support: provide individualized attention and support to students adapting teaching strategies to accommodate their unique strengths weaknesses and learning styles.
  6. Technology integration: utilize technology and instructional resources to enhance the learning experience and promote digital literacy among students.
  7. Student assessment: assess and evaluate student progress regularly through various formative and summative assessment methods providing timely feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  8. Collaborative projects: collaborate with other teachers to develop interdisciplinary projects and activities that integrate different subjects and promote critical thinking creativity and problemsolving skills.
  9. Community involvement: encourage student participation in community service initiatives cultural events and extracurricular activities to foster social responsibility and global awareness.
  10. Parental communication: maintain open and effective communication with parents/guardians providing regular updates on their childs academic progress and addressing any concerns.
  11. Classroom management: establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment implementing effective behavior management strategies and promoting positive discipline practices.
  12. Professional development: stay updated with educational research best practices and professional development opportunities to continuously enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

  • Cultural sensitivity: promote cultural sensitivity and respect for diversity encouraging crosscultural understanding and celebrating diversity within the classroom and school community.
  • Technology as a tool: integrate technology effectively to enhance teaching and learning promoting digital literacy and facilitating distance learning if necessary.
  • Differentiation strategies: implement differentiation strategies to accommodate students with diverse learning styles abilities and language proficiency levels.
  • Stimulating classroom: create a stimulating and organized classroom environment equipped with appropriate resources materials and ageappropriate educational tools.
  • Parental engagement: engage parents/guardians actively in their childs education through regular communication parentteacher conferences and involvement in school activities.
  • Professional growth: participate in ongoing professional development opportunities and collaborate with colleagues to stay current with educational best practices.

Working hours:

  • Monday to friday 7:30 am to 4:30 pm.
  • Early bird program and afternoon dismissal will be on a rotating schedule.
  • School holidays follow the calendar approved by ADEK


Requirements

Educational requirements:

  • Bachelors degree in Spanish philology or Spanish language and literature:
    • A degree in Spanish philology Spanish language and literature or a related field is required.
    • Grado en filolog a hisp nica o lengua y literatura espa ola: grado en filolog a hisp nica lengua y literatura espa ola o un campo relacionado.
  • Masters in teacher training for secondary education:
    • A masters degree in teacher training for secondary education (m ster en formaci n del profesorado de educaci n secundaria obligatoria y bachillerato y ense anza de idiomas) with a specialization in spanish/enlgish language and literature.
    • M ster en formaci n del profesorado de educaci n secundaria: m ster en formaci n del profesorado de educaci n secundaria obligatoria y bachillerato fp y ense anza de idiomas con especializaci n en lengua castellana y literatura.
  • Teaching certification/license:
    • Official teaching certification or equivalent qualifications recognized by the relevant educational authorities in spain.
    • Certificaci n oficial de profesorado: certificaci n oficial o cualificaciones equivalentes reconocidas por las autoridades educativas pertinentes en espa a.

Experience and skills:

  • Proven experience teaching secondary students preferably in a multicultural or international setting.
  • Native speaker of Spanish. Proficiency in English is essential.
  • Knowledge of the Spanish curriculum and familiarity with innovative teaching methodologies and active learning strategies.
  • Strong classroom management skills with the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students parents/guardians and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Flexibility adaptability and a willingness to embrace the multicultural setting of the school.
  • Passion for teaching a creative approach to education and a commitment to promoting students holistic development.
