The job holder will be managing the implementation and lead overall financial strategy and policies in areas of Treasury, General Ledger and Fixed Asset Management to serve the business objectives of the entity by applying international financial standards and in compliance with set policies and procedures, local laws and regulations. Manage investments and working capital to maximize the rate of return.
Treasury
- Lead and direct Treasury function to meet objectives to minimize risk and institute policies in treasury operations and process controls.
- Oversee and manage the relations with the various banks.
- Ensure forecasting and evaluation of financial risks together with the identification of procedures to avoid/minimize their impact on the financial situation of the entity.
General Ledger
- Establish, maintain and update chart of accounts. Ensuring strict adherence to deadlines set for the monthly, quarterly & yearly financial period closing.
- Ensure overall reconciliations, GL reconciliation, bank reconciliations and data consolidation is processed periodically and updated. Reconcile intercompany transactions and balances.
Fixed Asset Management
- Develop Fixed Asset accounting policies. Perform analysis and maintain fixed assets transactions in the system. Conduct routine inventory checks and reconcile fixed assets balance in the ledger in compliance to policies, procedures and regulations.
- Oversee and ensure the accurate calculations of depreciation for all fixed assets. Develop and maintain depreciation data by reviewing and updating the detailed schedule of fixed assets and accumulated depreciation.
- Ensure all assets and contingent liabilities are managed in line with good practices.
- Manage insurance contracting and performance process across the departments. Ensure claims are raised in timely manner and manage operational risk to support entity decisions.
- Conduct periodic impairment analysis and investigate the potential obsolescence of fixed assets.
Budget
- Contribute to the preparation of the Finance department budget and monitor the financial performance of a given area of activity versus set budget to ensure alignment with set budget guidelines.
- Support sector/department approved budget planning and submission in coordination with the budget team.
- Support the Finance Director with any other budget preparation as requested and applicable to the role.
Financial Control
- Maintain a robust control and governance environment in line with regulatory requirements and consistent with all internal policies that ensures statutory compliances of all systems, processes & accounting practices.
Financial Reporting
- Provide analysis of performance as directed.
- Support and coordinate with finance reporting team for details of adhoc and periodical reports.
People Management
- Manage the effective achievement of assigned objectives through the leadership of the Section by setting of individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff to maximize performance.
- Lead the talent development initiatives for the assigned unit, collaborating with technical/discipline experts and thereby ensure the availability of talent to fit business requirements.
- Act as a role model and drive adherence to organizational values and ethics by employees of the assigned section to foster a value driven culture within the organization.
Budgeting and Financial Planning
- Manage the preparation and recommend the section budget and monitor financial performance versus the budget while ensuring all sectional activities are conducted in line with the approved guidelines.
Policies, Systems, Processes & Procedures
- Manage and ensure effective implementation of functional policies, procedures and controls covering all areas of assigned section activity so that all relevant procedural/legislative requirements are fulfilled while delivering a quality, cost-effective service.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Finance/Accounting or equivalent and preferably a master’s degree in finance/ Accounting.
- Professional Accreditations: CA, ACCA or CPA is preferred
