A Dental General Practitioner also known as a General Dentist is a primary dental care provider who diagnoses treats and manages overall oral health issues in patients of all ages. Heres a comprehensive job description for a Dental General Practitioner:

• Perform routine dental examinations including visual inspections xrays and periodontal assessments to identify any oral health problems or potential issues early on. Provide preventive services such as dental cleanings fluoride treatments sealants and oral hygiene instructions to maintain optimal oral health.
  
• Utilize diagnostic tools and techniques to assess patients oral health status including identifying cavities gum disease oral infections and abnormalities in the teeth gums and oral tissues. Interpret diagnostic images and laboratory tests to formulate accurate diagnoses.
  
• Develop comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patients unique needs considering factors such as their oral health status medical history preferences and budgetary constraints. Discuss treatment options with patients explain the risks and benefits and collaborate with them to make informed decisions about their dental care.
  
• Perform a variety of restorative procedures to repair or replace damaged or missing teeth including dental fillings crowns bridges and implants. Use dental materials such as composite resin porcelain and metal alloys to restore both function and aesthetics to patients smiles.
  
• Provide root canal therapy to treat infected or inflamed dental pulp and preserve teeth that would otherwise require extraction. Perform root canal procedures with precision and expertise to alleviate pain and save natural teeth whenever possible.
  
• Diagnose and treat gum disease (periodontal disease) through scaling and root planing procedures antibiotic therapy and surgical interventions as needed to restore gum health and prevent further progression of the disease.
  
• Design and fabricate dental prostheses such as dentures partial dentures and dental implants to restore function and aesthetics for patients with missing teeth. Ensure proper fit function and appearance of prosthetic devices to enhance patients oral function and selfconfidence.
  
• Perform minor oral surgical procedures including tooth extractions biopsies and soft tissue surgeries with precision and care. Coordinate with oral and maxillofacial surgeons for more complex surgical cases requiring specialized expertise.
  
• Provide prompt and compassionate care for patients experiencing dental emergencies such as severe toothaches dental trauma abscesses or broken restorations. Offer sameday appointments and afterhours availability for urgent dental needs.
  
• Educate patients about proper oral hygiene practices dietary habits and lifestyle choices that promote optimal oral health and prevent dental problems. Address patients questions concerns and anxieties about dental treatment with empathy and understanding.
  
• Maintain accurate and uptodate dental records including medical histories treatment plans progress notes and radiographic images in compliance with regulatory standards and patient confidentiality guidelines.
